Lose Your Illusions Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 We know there's Pro Shot footage out there, good quality footage. i bet theres some out there we dont know about that the GNR camp has.Listen, I know this is Guns N' Roses, where sometimes logic doesn't exist (little promotion, none from Axl for a 14 year in the making album) and I' m not complaining. It makes new GNR, new GNR. But, why the hell wouldn't Axl use the concert footage to make a music video. I just watched a Green Day video for "East Jesus No Where" and it's all pro shot concert footage. Add the video of Axl punching the guy, backstage footage, partying a some club in canada after a show etc the only reason I could see for not making a video is because its 2010, and CD was released in 2008. Or management issues or legal issues, not using the GNR image or whatever. But c'mon just make a video, if its legal, managment allows it, why the hell not?Don't we, the fans, deserve something for waiting 14 years for 14 songs? again i'm not complaining, but if the footage is there, its not that hard to give us a simple video.
Slash'd Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 That's what the Better video is.The Better video thats probably never going to be released..
PTZ Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 The album has stalled out in the US anyway. I think it should have sold millions here but at this point, I don't know if there is a strong enough, commercial single to bring the album sales back from the dead. The seven year old greatest hits album continues to outsell the "Most Anticipated Album Of All Time" Recently GH was back on the charts and CD hasn't been for a year or so now. That is very telling. And GNR doesn't make any money off that one, do they? Didn't they sue over it?
AxlRose14 Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 That's what the Better video is.I think that's actually what it may be. JUST MY THEORY: but I do notice a year ago when Axl said the video was being "finalized" it was also at the same time rehearsals are starting up. Don't wanna make assumptions, but I figured since the video is supposidly "live footage" of the band, it didn't make sense to release a video with someone like Robin in it when it was well established Robin was out. GNR doesn't need to promote former members any more than they already did(most unintentionally). Makes sense to me that the GNR team said "well, we want live footage of the current band" and after all the hard work on it Axl probably got pissed off at management for not releasing it (once again, guessing) which could have lead to some of those internel problems between Axl and management we've heard about.I think if a video for better does come out it maybe took so long because they wanted live footage of the current band in action. So maybe they wanted to wait for this tour...and they probably wanted to wait until the Asian and Canadien legs were over, so that way they have a larger collection of footage to sort through than just the handful of shows they did in Asia. My guess is they're editing currently and targeting releasing it in time for South America. Well think about it, maybe that's why both the first two legs were somewhat brief to begin with? 4 shows in Asia...less than a month in canada...hmm could be something? then again who really knows? But I also wanna remind people that I am being very optimistic on this one and straight pulling it from my ass. Frankly I don't know, but I do honestly believe that this has to be the reason. Either that or there has got to be some legal issue behind the scenes we don't know about, but then again, what legal issue would there be? I remember reading awhile back there was supposidly a lawsuit between slash and axl over the video and it couldn't be released because it would be promoting the current band or some bullshit...as far as I'm concerned it's Axl's band, they tour the world and play live, people know it and understand it, a music video with the current band shouldn't be that big of an issue. For the record, the video would be pointless for the single, I agree. The singles dead. But it would continue to promote the band, remind people they're on the road, and give people a little sample and taste of what this band can really do live. The point of the video now would be to just generate a general interest in the band for the live shows, so NO IT WOULD NOT BE POINTLESS, overall. They're better off releasing it than just standing pat.THIS IS JUST A THEORY ONCE AGAIN, I CAN NOT SPEAK FOR THE BAND. ASK AXL OR SOMEONE IN THE BAND IF YOU REALLY WANT TO KNOW. I'm speculating...And as much as I love axl and the band and don't wanna assume things, what choice do we have? no one from the gnr camp has spoken about the video since last February so as far as I'm concerned until it's released thats all we can do is speculate...
WhatsHerface Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 It's WAAAYY too late for a video.A video wouldn't hurt though.
dalsh327 Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 It's rare that people pay attention to videos anymore.
fex- Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 the video that OP posted is not proshot, its just shot from the big screens. But if there were to releases a pro-shot then I hope they release a boxset consisting of: Tokyo 2009 DVD + CD and Canada (combination of all cities) DVD + CD and maybe a DVD + CD of some older stuff from the 2000s
Orsys Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 Maybe they thought that Vh-1,MTV etc. wouldn't care about the video? At this point the only way we will see this Better video is if someone leaks it or as a DVD extra. It's rare that video channels even play videos anymore. Baz was right when he asked if we remembered when MuchMusic used to play videos (Toronto concert).
Guest siliconmessiah Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 Actually, what is needed is a new album. I went to see the Chinese Democracy World Tour, that was four...no...sorry...eight years ago, in 2002.
Don_Coffa Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 It might make sense that they are using footage of these concerts to finish off the 'better' video. At the Toronto concert I saw the crew recording the show from the front of the floors by the stage. Which is what we saw on the big screens. So yeh it would be awesome if we saw a video come from it.
