The Current line-up is amazing, my personall opinoin is that the band works very well together presently, they sound much better than some of the UYI concerts..although i beleive we are looking at two different things here. I find it hard to compare the old line-up to this present one, each has it's appeal. I'd also like to add that i think Ashba has been a great asset to the band, since he joined i've heard more and more people in college speak about Gn'R whereas before it was only the true fans. But going back to the comparing thing..I do get sick and tired of hearing people say..."Oh Gn'R is not as good as when that Slash was in it", or "Slash is much better than the current line-up". i don't think these people really know what their fuckin' taking about tbh, because any body who is actually a fan knows that the current line-up is producing just as good material as when slash was in the band. Slash is a good guitarist, but very overated tbh.

if i had to make a desision on this, i'd most likely say the Current Line-up, it's exciting, sounds ace, looks neat...fuckin' sweet.

Bones.

You guys know Brain is still in the band right? Incase any of you aren't aware I emailed him a couple of weeks back and he said he wants to tour with GNR he's just burnt out from work...says everythings cool between him and Axl and he may tour with them soon.

Yeah i keep in contact with him...he always tells me he's "out of the loop" but would love to get back in the studio/on the road.

1. AFD lineup- cant beat the original.

2. AFD with sorum lineup- closest thing to the original with out Adler.

3. UYI lineup with clarke- least favorite old guns lineup

4. Lineup now- DJ is IMO is the best post old lineup guitarist in GNR. Why? cuz he actually fits in as a GNR guitarist and has equal skill to finck and BH.

5. 2006 lineup- Eh ok i guess.

6. 2001 lineup- atleast there more "exotic" than the 06 lineup, which made them good IMO, but it wasnt a Guns N Roses lineup, u got a bald/ mullet NIN guitarist and a guy wearing a mask. sorry thats not GNR, i love watching the old vids but seriously the band right now kicks there ass.

7. 85 lineup- Who cares?! haha

i love all the GNR lineups but when u compare them to other lineups some kick the ass out of the others.

my answer is buckethead.

The correct answer is the classic lineup.Anyone who says otherwise is either a)not old enough to have seen them or b)willing to accept anyone that Axl says is in GNR.

c. thinks buckethead is straight up better than slash.

its true i never saw slash and axl. but i also never saw axl and bucket. so the point is mute.

bucket/axl > slash/axl. its just an opinion.

I'm surprised no one's selected this, but:

February–July 1990

Axl Rose – lead vocals

Slash – lead guitar, rhythm guitar, acoustic guitar

Izzy Stradlin – rhythm guitar

Duff McKagan – bass, backing vocals

Steven Adler – drums

Dizzy Reed – piano, backing vocals

I loved that GN'R branched out musically and brought in keyboards. But I was never a big fan of Matt. For whatever reason, just interviews I saw with him... so this short-lived lineup is kinda cool.

And now, the current lineup. I've seen the band in 02, 06, and 10. They improved each year; each year there were some really special moments, but Toronto this year they seemed like a cohesive unit. 02 it really looked like they were struggling to find an identity; I loved Buckethead's playing but things were kind of a mishmash. 06 I loved but the album wasn't out yet so we had a limited number of new songs, and while I dig some of Finck's work, live he's more suited to NIN (I've seen him live with both bands). 2010 GN'R are... well Axl's shirt says it best - Just another fucker in a band. This lineup seems like a band that kicks serious ass as a unit and is more than the sum of its parts.
