Yesterdays is a personal favorite. As many have said, yes its short. Its so sweet though. It packs such a wallop in the short playtime that it has. The lyrics alone merit enough appreciation, theyre terrific. Even if one applies them relatively - the words can say and mean so much to an individual.

Yesterdays is one of my all-time fav songs.

IF they were to do it live, i think they should slow it down, and do it acoustically

maybe just DJ and Ron playing guitars, and let Axl's Voice just take over.

maybe even try to get the crowd involved a lil bit.

they would always extend the song with a couple of bridges or solo's in it if desired.

and as far as it being Axl's call what songs get played

well doesnt anyone remember the 06-07 shows? when Ron would play a lil bit of Don't Cry

and now on this tour Axl is singing part of the song!

IF the band said hey, how bout we do this song and get it into the show that would be great.

i say drop an AFD song, maybe My Michelle or something.

I think as the tour goes, some songs will be added, some songs will be dropped. As the setlists have been posted, they have some songs they're doing night after night, but it's not the type of setlist VH was doing, which was the same exact setlist everywhere they played.

But I think the expectation that GNR just set are people now expecting 3-4 hour shows.

It's got a really great melody that didn't survive the cheese of the album version. The acoustic Scrap Bar Daze he did with West was that song in it's best incarnation. Shame it was only a thirty second jam.

Chuck Klosterman once said that Catcher sounded like a reworked version of Yesterdays. I have to say I hear that.

"Yesterdays" is great. I've always loved the song. I'm really not sure why Axl has steered so clear of the UYI material since he started "NuGNR."

Because AFD is the superior and more popular album, and since this is the Chinese Democracy tour, CD has priority over UYI for lesser-known songs.

This song would/will be amazing live. Axl's voice now is just how it was when this song was recorded. Fuckin rocks. I reeeealy hope they do this song. Ima be like pretty sad if they never get around to playing all these epic UYI songs. No way they can go thru the rest of the tour pretending UYI hardly exists. And Yesterdays is not a ballad.

Great song.......but he'll never play it again. (for alot of reasons). " I reeeealy hope they do this song" you should use the term "they" loosely. As in "they" would be AXL. He runs the show. It aint no democracy. Can you imagine one of the hired guns firing up "hey Axl, i think we should play...............". LOL

This post really shows how much you know. Tommy Stintson chooses most of the songs.

Yes, he does - from a pre-approved list provided by the man who runs the whole thing...Axl.

And what do you think might be the reason for it, if indeed it is so? Axl's "running the whole thing" or him being the singer who is centre of attention and must deliver there?

Axl is GnR. W all love Axl. GnR isn't GnR without Axl. GnR is GnR with anyone at any other 'position' but singer. I'm not saying current GnR is bad (I actually thing it's the best post original line up yet). But face it, not one memebrs opinion means a damn thing. No way say Ashba approaches Axl, "hey, lets play your old song Estranged"....Axl would laugh and say 'come again'? Why are you talking to me"?

I have always really liked this song -- it was the complete antithesis of the other "ballads" on the Illusion discs -- fast, taught, to-the-point. Axl's vocals were at a peak on this track, and I think the music video -- in retrospect -- is almost eerily prescient. You could pretend that video was made from archive footage in the late '90s after the band broke up, and all the footage and the nostalgic style of the video itself would seem really fitting. It's almost like whoever put together that video could tell the band's days were numbered.
