Powerage5
I'm looking to get into recording concerts, both due to the number of concerts I'm attending this year which I'm fairly certain no one will be recording, and also because I want to start giving back to a community which I appreciate so much. Does anyone have any ideas on a cheap, but efficient recorder/mic? I'm thinking an H2 Zoom, as I have several shows which were recorded on one, but it's also not even listed in the gear section on the Trader's Den, which led me to believe it might be "too cheap". I really have no idea on mics, so any help would be appreciated. Also looking for tips on how to get clean recordings, my (hopefully) first outing will be in a club that holds about 200 people, and I really have no knowledge of getting levels right, etc.
Mansin Humanity
I've heard many shows recorded on an Edirol R-09 with AKG 1000S mics. They sound very good, although most are in small to mid sized venues. This is a good example of what it sounds like: http://www.archive.org/details/sr2009-02-14.akg1000sedit: It's also possible to record with just the Edirol unit, as shown here: http://www.archive.org/details/sr2010-02-06 Edited February 26, 2010 by asp324
vicious
from what i;ve read, the best place to record is the centre middle of an arena. thats usually where the soundboards are, they position them there because its the best place for sound.
