Have any of you ever met Axl?

Back in 06' I met Bumble :tongue2: Exceptionally nice and well mannered, couldn't of asked for anymore.

Axl did pass the patient fans around 4 o clock in the morning, finally leaving the building. He shook a guys hand (I'm guessing the guy who sorted out the show and made it happen), and looked quite laid back. He looked mythed and a little cheesed off when someone shouted "Axl!" like he really wasn't expecting anyone to be there at that time.

Not much of a story but it's all I've got.

I had the pleasure of meeting Axl recently, he is not what most would believe, he is very friendly, outgoing, gracious, happy, hilarious. A real pleasure to be around, everyone in the band and around them were wonderful. I did not feel like I had to be anyone else but myself, he is one cool cat.

takes a cool cat to know a cool cat :shades:

I met Axl once. We were at a urinal together. I knew it was him instantly as he had kitty litter stuck to his cock.

Funny story but next time you wanna pull that BS about Axl ya might wanna think about NOT telling the whole forum you were looking at a dude's cock, just my opinion of course ... to each their own if your into that though.

Don't try to say you've never glanced down at another guy while at a urinal. Every guy has done it. Especially Jackie Moon.

It always seems like guys are afraid to go to an open urinal next to you. They always take the next one over. So usually I take the middle urinal, that way they either take one right next to me, or have to use the small one like a douchebag. Most guys use the small one like a douchebag.

If you would rather use the small urinal than stand next to another guy at a regular urinal, then you are afraid that you'll look over. How hard is it to just go up, whip it out, go and stare at the wall in front of you?

its got nothing to do with fear, its just a unwritten code. unless special circumstances, there needs to be a 1 urinal buffer zone.

that rule ends for most when you turn 14, or at least i thought it did.

when you gotta pee, you gotta pee.

if you guys have a hard time pissing without a buffer zone, then let me advise you to never go to any 'dive' bars or clubs - where usually its one or two urinals and a toilet.

get over yourselves.

Nah. Nothing wrong with going to the urinal next to another guy. If you've got nothing to hide, I don't see what's wrong with it.

I'm not trying to make anyone do anything. I just think it's funny when guys my height (6 foot) are too afraid to take 20 seconds to piss at a larger urinal, yet next to another guy, but will take the smaller one and look like an idiot.

EDIT: If you are disagreeing with Jackie, then why are you calling me a douchebag, Sunny? I agree with you...

its got nothing to do with that. i assume most guys just stare straight ahead at a urinal. its about personal space. not just at urinals, im the same way if im talking to someone, i dont like people being right in front of me, i always take a step back. i need my personal space.

and no, i havent met axl.

See the one urinal rule always applies unless I'm wasted, in which case, I don't care and i just go. So at those dive bars and clubs, i'm fine, but it's anywhere else while I'm sober that I have a problem

@velvetgirl: piss off ya wanker

Hey guys, just wondering if any of you have met Axl and if so what is he like? Also, do you think Axl or GN'R would ever do any in store autographs at a record store? There is a cool record store on Sunset called Amoeba Music in LA that I know would love to have them.

I met Axl in early 2001. I was a blackjack dealer at Treasure Island. It was the first time Axl had ever been in that casino (he told me). He was alone, casually dressed, and very unassuming. He sat at my empty game, and at first, I wasn't even sure it was him. I asked if he wanted to track his play, so he gave up his I.D. He was soft spoken, didn't curse, or smoke, and drank Sprite. I got to spend 40 minutes with him until I went on break. During that time, he told me about the upcoming release of C.D., and the ensuing tour.

He'd told me about the picture of the bike with the huge basket on it that he was going to use on the album cover. In my mind, I thought it would be on the handlebars...oh well. He also told me about Buckethead signing his contract on the haunted house ride at Disney Land. He said the original title of the album was going to be Chinese Communism, or something like that, but then he thought that wouldn't work, and changed it to Chinese Democracy. He was excited about the song too.

I don't know why he felt so comfortable talking to me; at the time, I wasn't even a fan, which had to be obvious by the stupid questions I asked him; "Is your name really Axl?" lol He spoke about after the money was gone, the friends were gone, the women were gone, and he was starting over again, only this time alone; the original band was gone too.

Before that night, the only thing I knew of Axl Rose was the ugly picture VH1 had painted of him. The man I met was down to earth, and humble. "Nice boys don't play rock n roll," but, "I know you better! "

Good, Bad, or Ugly, I'm a Guns N Roses fan, and an even bigger Axl Rose fan.

you had an unusually intimate conversation with axl, going by your post. he probably did feel more comfortable with you because you weren't an obvious fan. [funny how we open up to service people we don't even know; such as yourself] Seeing as he was by himself he might have been keen for someone to talk with. thumbs up to you for keeping his trust and not divulging all the details here.

... @s for all you ppl hung up on urinal talk, aint it funny how you guys can lose all sense of focus when it comes to the subject of your danglers.

wait you left out the most important thing. Was Axl up or down when you left the table? how much did he tip when you dealt him 21? Does he split 10's vs. a King?

I had the good fortune of meeting Axl and most of the band (didn't see Dizzy or Pitman) after the Toronto show a month ago. I was lucky enough to gain access to the after-party located at a Toronto nightclub.

I've refrained from posting about this since I didn't think it was appropriate or respectful to the band and the people I met that night. I'm not a fan of people who use chance meetings with celebrities to enhance their own self-worth or reputation (not to suggest anyone here is doing so; people here are responding to the question, not starting their own threads about it). I never understand why people feel the need to take pictures with celebrities; as if they need proof that they met the person or something. It's not like seeing a grizzly bear or bald eagle.

Anyway, I had a great time hanging out and partying with Axl and company. I'll leave out the details but I will say this: everyone in the band is super cool, a lot of fun and Axl and Tommy in particular are party monsters. When it comes to drinking, the boys can throw down with the best of them.

Oh, and yeah, everyone is really friendly and social, definitely incongruent with how the media portrays Axl and the band.

Finally, the night was as awesome as one could imagine. I remember being very young and thinking how cool it would be to meet my heros, but as I grew older I became more cynical, thinking the experience wouldn't measure up; that the person would be an asshole and ruin the experience. Like I just mentioned, the night of meeting and partying with the band was as cool as I could have ever imagined.

Cheers,

Andrew

P.S. Please don't ask for particular details (ie. where was the club, how did I get in, conversations, etc). The night was for myself and I'm not really interested in sharing the details.

It's cool to know they're all pretty cool and laid back. I personally kinda liked that one video that Bubbles (or his buddy or something) posted of Axl backstage. It's rare when you get to see one of your idols 'behind the scenes'. Axl certainly seems like a down-to-earth cat... was cool to hear him laugh in that video! Bubbles said something, or somebody did, and they got this surprised-laugh out of Axl. Was pretty cool. I'm extremely jealous you got to shoot-the-shit with him! Maybe if I'm lucky I'll score backstage passes when and if they come to the Baltimore area again and get the opportunity to meet some of them.

Where's this video you speak of?
