I've met Axl on several occasions. Mostly during the UYI tour 91-93. I did audio/video tech for the stage crew and we were always invited to be "part" of the tour. What I mean is... We were given all opportunities to hang with the band, families and friends. Also, opening acts, interpreters, caterers, assistants. You get the idea. Most would be like oh my god, you did that? Keep in mind it was a job. We were paid very little but had all of our accomodations and travel provided. Fun times. Lots of perks. None bigger then Axl's "theme" parties after every show. I was only part of the tour from 92-93. Been to Brasil, Argentina, all over US and Canada (Yes Montreal too) as well as Europe.Never had the pleasure of going to Asia though due to VISA requirements. Still a dream of mine. As for the parties though. Axl threw a different themes party after EVERY show! Anything from toga to masquerade. He is a very cool guy but compared to how many times we've hung with the band, it was much fewer meeting Axl. He is a very private man. He is polite but direct. If he wants to bitch, he will. Media, fans, crew doesn't matter who's around. He used to run around the staging area for exercise and just scream. His reason is too see how long he can hold a note while running. Too funny. But that's the reason I speak so highly of Axl. I know what he's all about and it pisses me off when web warriors "think" they know him or decide to blame him for the break-up etc. I was there in July 93. Those close to him say he tried everything to keep Slash from walking.

I was given this opportunity as part of an apprenticeship out of high school. The band wanted young people to train because there's a better chance of a young person not bitching about how much they make. This was an once in a lifetime opportunity. I pursued this later on. I was an Audio Recording Technician for Metalworks in Mississauga, Canada (The band recorded there for UYI but I was there years later) after going to Ryerson University. Many of you have asked why I know so much. It pisses some of you off. I am a family man now. Still love the band, still love Axl and everything he stands for. I will admit that I did stop following all the news during the long after UYI hiatus. I pursued my industry and now DJ as well. I figured this was the right time to tell the forum who I am and how much this band means to me. I still have many close friends in the industry. Universal, Geffen, SFX, Dyamex etc. I honestly feel this band has never been tighter. I never met Axl on this tour but did meet him in 2002 and 2006.

The next time ya see me tear someone to shredz in forum. Now ya know why. I live and breathe this band. Axl is truly my idol as he is many of yours. Never really liked Slash. Next to Axl and Duff. Gilby was da man. Oh and Dizzy is another character. Some of you may find this a waste. I decided to write this because of PM's I have received. The notorious Madison and Eric knew who I was before anyone else for the record!

Some of you may ask how I got to be part of the tour. I was an Audio Recording Technician for Metalworks in Mississauga (The band recorded there for UYI), Canada after going to Ryerson University. Many of you have asked why I know so much. It pisses some of you off. I am a family man now. Still love the band, still love Axl and everything he stands for. My 8 year old son is as big a fan as I was at 10 when AFD was released. Been a supporter of the GNR empire for 23 years. How many 10 year olds ran out to buy Appetite For Destruction, had their parents try to convince them to buy, in my case, Glass Tiger. I heard Jungle on HTZ FM and that was it. I threw a fit in the record store til I got my way. I figured this was the right time to tell the forum who I am and how much this band means to me. I still have many close friends in the industry. That was a nice read!

A cool memory to have

2 comments. It was a job and there was a lot of work. We were there peak AM (4 or 5am) and worked for a good 9 or 10 hours. Other crew would be working on things like the overhead truss for like 8 hours alone. My job was grip. Running cables, connecting audio video systems. Insulating wires etc. There was a huge crew on the tour. It is indescribable.

2) I don't know why the band broke up convincingly. I know Slash quit and Axl tried to make it work. I can tell ya this, public or not, Axl wanted to go back to a mini-style tour. Smaller venues (10-20000 capacity only) Slash was tired and wanted to do club gigs. Axl felt the band was too big for such a small gig. Also, Axl was sampling many new sounds (Chinese Democracy) that the old band wasn't impressed with. Axl always liked electronica and alternative music (grunge) Soundgarden, Faith No More, Smashing Pumpkins, Pearl Jam etc. Slash and Axl just couldn't agree and Slash walked. I wasn't part of this at all. The tour ended in Argentina but with many tears. We were told there was aother tour in he works. We knew there wasn't. Axl was nowhere in site after that show. Rumour has it that he left as soon as the house lights came on. Who knows. I just don't many people to think I know secrets of the band. What I do know or have witnessed will remain private. I will not display pix, memorobilia or anything. So don't ask. I'm here cuz I'm a fan like all of u. I will answer anything I can tho.

Hey guys, just wondering if any of you have met Axl and if so what is he like? Also, do you think Axl or GN'R would ever do any in store autographs at a record store? There is a cool record store on Sunset called Amoeba Music in LA that I know would love to have them.

I met Axl in early 2001. I was a blackjack dealer at Treasure Island. It was the first time Axl had ever been in that casino (he told me). He was alone, casually dressed, and very unassuming. He sat at my empty game, and at first, I wasn't even sure it was him. I asked if he wanted to track his play, so he gave up his I.D. He was soft spoken, didn't curse, or smoke, and drank Sprite. I got to spend 40 minutes with him until I went on break. During that time, he told me about the upcoming release of C.D., and the ensuing tour.

He'd told me about the picture of the bike with the huge basket on it that he was going to use on the album cover. In my mind, I thought it would be on the handlebars...oh well. He also told me about Buckethead signing his contract on the haunted house ride at Disney Land. He said the original title of the album was going to be Chinese Communism, or something like that, but then he thought that wouldn't work, and changed it to Chinese Democracy. He was excited about the song too.

I don't know why he felt so comfortable talking to me; at the time, I wasn't even a fan, which had to be obvious by the stupid questions I asked him; "Is your name really Axl?" lol He spoke about after the money was gone, the friends were gone, the women were gone, and he was starting over again, only this time alone; the original band was gone too.

Before that night, the only thing I knew of Axl Rose was the ugly picture VH1 had painted of him. The man I met was down to earth, and humble. "Nice boys don't play rock n roll," but, "I know you better! "

Good, Bad, or Ugly, I'm a Guns N Roses fan, and an even bigger Axl Rose fan.

Cool story. It's the ones that never met him that have no idea how normal he is. I guess he really did hit rock bottom before the 2002 tour! Glad he survived it.

Haven't met Axl but I have met many Guns n Roses members(Present and past) plenty of times. I met Bumble multiple times before and after Guns n Roses, one of the nicest guys I know. The first time I met him was after a gig he did in Florida in 2005 for his Normal tour. It was in a bar and I met him while he was drinking some Bud. We talked for about 10 minutes about his show, how he was doing, hows the wife, all that stuff. I had to go back to work afterwords though but he was very nice, funny, and level headed. I also met him after about 5 of the 06 shows. I met Frank once, I didnt really get too talk to him but he was nice and and open. I met Duff at a VR show, again not much talking but friendly and open. Matt is by far the nicest of the once I have met, always quick cracking a joke, and always offering to sign something. He gave me a Drum Stick, which is signed and stored somewhere in my closet. Then there's Slash.......oh Slash, I didnt really talk to him but I still asked for an autograph, and he seemed like kind of a dick. He let out this grunt as if im a peon that has no place on this earth, I still got the signature though so guess I won.

I didnt really talk to him but I still asked for an autograph, and he seemed like kind of a dick.

He let out this grunt as if im a peon that has no place on this earth.......

Why am I not surprised to read this?

$la$h is a dick-head junkie, multiple times over X 10 Trillion. But, according to most people, he's a really cool guy.

I can't wait till he overdoses and croaks for good someday and I don't actually give a flying fuck what anyone else thinks about my personal opinion.

I'd also personally like to kick his little junkie bitch-ass and I most definitely would if he wasn't surrounded by body-guards. He's not a tough guy whatsoever. He's a JUNKIE. A real, genuine tough-guy junkie.

Yup. Lots of respect for the junkie right? Not me. Fuck you $ta$h. :fuckyou: Your head got too big a long time ago and I wish somebody had the decency to put you down like a used-up horse many, many moons ago. I truly do mean that, in the most sincerest way possible, you fucking lying, double-crossing and completely useless Heroin Addict.

I've never had the chance to meet any GNR members yet but, I wish I could meet up with $ta$h someday in a dark alley, so I could kick him in his useless, used-up Junkie cunt. You should have died a long time ago in a hotel room somewhere with a needle jammed in your lame-ass vein. Fuck you. :fuckyou:

I was given this opportunity as part of an apprenticeship in high school. The band wanted young people to train because there's a better chance of a young person not bitching about how much they make.

So you were 14-16 years old while being a roadie for Guns N' Roses?

Lol k

He's probably full of crap but it's harmless

I don't have to impress you nor did I have to make that post. I did it because people kept PMing me. Ya don't like it. Oh well. Am I supposed to care?

Then there's Slash....... Oh Slash.

I didnt really talk to him but I still asked for an autograph, and he seemed like kind of a dick.

He let out this grunt as if im a peon that has no place on this earth.......

This is your angry face

angryawesome-1.gif

:rofl-lol: No, it's not. My angry face looks quite a bit more demonic in nature than that. Sorry to all but, I have no respect for that guy whatsoever.

Some of the shit that's come out of that guys pie-hole over the years is just unreal. One thing I know for sure is that you really can't trust a junkie. A junkie would rape your mother or your sister or your wife and then ask afterwards why you were upset because in their useless mind they've done nothing wrong. Not trustable. The asshole is a liar and has been for many years.

Fuck you. :fuckyou:

I dont hate Slash, I LOVE his music, but he seemed like a dick.....Okay I am really happy that I got his sig, but he had no reason to grunt in my face. Im sure he was just tired after the show, but come on, he's not a junkie anymore. Wow jesus that was a huge and needed rant against Slash. I dont know him personalty and neither do you, you dont need to be so aggressive toward him.
