ITW 2012
Anybody else think that they should consider bringing the oxygen tank out on stage for TWAT? It's one of the best songs from Chinese Democracy and it's a shame that they can't find a way to play it more often. It seems like it's just too demanding a song to perform every night. I just wonder if there's a way they could make it easier for Axl to sing every night. I'd be okay with pumping in backing tracks if that's what it takes. Thoughts or ideas? Shackler
I think the more it's played, the easier it'd become. Like Shackler's is similar in regards to vocal strain, especially the chorus

Cdlove
I dread the day I'll need an oxygen tank to play with TWAT.I don't think he needs an oxygen tank to play that song, as far as from what I heard, Axl sings TWAT with his mid chest voice in the album. Live however, he sings it with his diaphram with some rasp added along with it. Now it's not hard to sing the verses for Axl belive it or not, he just needs to adjust is way of singing for that song. The climax of the song however is difficult to hit, I'm sure Axl has trouble hitting that note live without going into a reinforced Falsetto with chest voice. He doesn't use falsetto on that part album or live but it could keep his breath if he did use it.
Deb Rose
TWAT should be played more often! It's a damn good song!IF they don't play it because it's hard on Axl's voice... bring out the oxygen, sing it in a way that doesn't take too much out of him, I don't know. I just wanna hear that Bucket solo His voice in Rio was sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo damn good, I thought he was gonna give it a try. I think if they did play it, it would have been fucking FANTASTIC.

silverarrow
Lol at the helium thing ...I think even Axl would need oxygen for the final screaming part - I would do anything for you . And he won't compromise singing it without the true intensity of the song .
BatVin
I guess that the ordinary people just doesn't want to hear TWAT as much as we do + it's hard on Axl's voice = no need to play it. He could get hurt if he sings the final part every night on fuckin 100%. It's better to not to play it at all than do compromises.

Slashz28
I'm definitely surprised they don't /haven't played it much yet. Absolutely fantastic song. Up there with my faves from gnr (and I don't like most gnr "slower tempo" songs). Love this and love Maddy as well.

After TIL I wanted to slap the bitch who was like "Will this be any good? His voice is not the same... he's old. I bet the show won't be all that" repeatedly while screaming IN YOUR FACE. Oh God I want to relive that night. There was just pure awesomeness coming out of everyone on stage.

jellyzero
I agree. Bring out the oxygen tank or hey, I have a novel idea, show up to SOUNDCHECK and rehearse a few of the songs that are difficult. 18 years ago he used to say that he didn't go to soundcheck because he wanted to keep the show spontaneous. I would say that excuse goes out the window when the setlist is as predictable as this one has become.
Black Sabbath
You are a cupcake ... Axl doesn´t need an oxygen tank to sing it ... just practice it more...Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if he does. Axl obviously needs frequent hits from the tank, especially in higher elevation countries and cities, and for a song like TWAT, with the "screaming" bits towards the end and whatnot, it probably wouldn't hurt to take a small bit of oxygen during the performance.Oxygen tanks and pyro don't mix.And I agree. The stage would probably blow up killing Axl and the rest of the band.Would be a hell of a way to go out, though."Guns N' Roses frontman, Axl Rose, DIES in an on-stage explosion due to his oxygen tank being exposed to the vast amounts of pyrotechnics on stage. Rose had brought the tank on stage per request of a MYGNRFORUM Member, to be able to perform the band's song, 'There Was A Time', that night the best he could." ITW 2012
The Oxygen Tank headline was more of an attention getter. I didn't really think about the pyrotechnic aspect. I consider TWAT to be one of the cornerstones of the album and I think that they should make an effort to figure out how to play it every night. It would make me want to buy Chinese Democracy if I was at the show and had never heard it before. Edited April 6, 2010 by ITW 2012

WhatsHerface
It makes me sad TWAT has only been played a few times, it's such an epic song. But if it's hard on Axl or the band, I can nderstand.TWAT is the CD track but it's like PC it takes a while for people to know it, should play it more, do a video.THAT would be killer! I've always thought that There Was A Time would make such a cool video. An appearence from Bucket would be pretty sweet. B)
nightrain86
I'm pretty sure Axl uses a oxygen tank. There's a pic floating around somewhere of him during the UYI tour that had him backstage with one and I'm fairly certain during the Tokyo show last year when Bumbles was playing Don't Cry at the start you can hear what sounds like him inhaling from one backstage due to the fact the bootleg was sourced from what Axl hears. Not that any of that matters, i don't give a shit if he uses one, the guy gives a kick ass show anyway. As for TWAT i would like to hear it again, one of the best songs on CD imo. Having it onstage would save him the time and effort of running off stage and maybe that would make it easier to perform TWAT every night.
wasted
When I heard it live it seemed fine. The Long Time parts must be hard but the crowd cheer when he pulled them off. The solos were awesome.
