I want to get into some old rock bands

Recommended Posts

I love rock music, my favourite bands are GNR, STP, RHCP, Nirvana, Foos and VR. I recently tried getting into some older rock bands (namely Led Zeppelin and AC/DC) but it didn't really do anything for me.

Can any of you guys recommend some older rock bands for me to try? I would appreciate any song/album titles to look up.

You want to get into dadrock?

Okay..

All of Led Zeppelin's albums...No exception, they're all fucking brilliant.

I'd normally tell you to get all of AC/DC's albums, but that may be a bit overwhelming. So, just get from Let There Be Rock to For Those About To Rock (We Salute You)

Get Black Sabbath's debut, and Paranoid.

The Ramone's first four albums.

Moving Pictures by Rush

Who's Next by The Who

I think there are a few maybe not so obvious ones from the 70s, but they are great and provide a pretty wide range to see what type you like:

Deep Purple - Machine Head

Foghat - Fool for the City

Yes - Yessongs

Neil Young - Harvest

Elton John - Goodbye Yellow Brick Road

Guess Who - American Woman

Alice Cooper - Welcome To My Nightmare

Aerosmith - Rocks / Pump

Led Zeppelin - IV

Motley Crue - Shout At The Devil / Too Fast For Love

These bands are new, but they have an 'old' (80s) sound:

Vains Of Jenna - The Art Of Telling Lies

Dirty Penny - Take It Sleazy / Young & Reckless
