SunnyDRE
Only forum opinion of the album.I don't like CD at this moment, but I do wonder if I would have a different opinion of the record had I never heard any of the leaks (except OMG) before the official release.I'm almost 50% sure my opinion would be different. GNR 1991
I think Axl should've saved some songs that were played live from 2001-2007 on future albums. I mean, if he saw the Chinese Democracy saga as a double album, then he could've for example put Riad, Prostitute, Madagascar, and Scraped on album two -- plus, the band could then say they were touring two albums the entire time.I guess if "Silkworms" makes it to the next disc, he could still say he's played it live in 2001 -- but that's really stretching it. ManetsBR
I'm not sure, but I read somewhere that radios use to play IRS a lot when it was leaked.
gnr-dave
catcher was included because of the good reception it had after it leaked. imo...Too bad the song was butchered on the album version. There were two songs that were not supposed to make CD but did because they leaked, so two unheard songs were instead dropped. James Bond
I'm guessing Riad was only included because it leaked. If I'm not mistaken, Axl originally said the album would have 13 songs. Of course, Axl has said many things before, but it seems logical to think that Riad would not have been on the album if it had not leaked. I believe it was Dizzy who said Riad and Silkworms would not be on the album. Without Riad, the album would indeed have 13 tracks. However, since it had already leaked it probably just made sense to include it. It was especially interesting that the song leaked in the first place - nobody expected it to be on the album. I also believe that Catcher was included because d-loaders liked it so much. I still think that it doesn't belong on the album and was added later. I remember an interview where Axl said the album would be 16 tracks with 6-8 b-sides. Obviously the CD is almost full minute wise but it would be nice to have actually gotten some of those b-sides. Sweersa
I think the 13 tracks possibly comes from Axl not wanting This I Love included initially.
Lethalis
Don't know if the leaks really had any influence on the album..I just wish no songs will be leaked from the next album before they release it. I listened to all those leaks and demo's for years so much, that when I finally had the album in my hands I hardly ever listened to it. I actually started playing AFD again lol No more leaks please! Because I'm a downloading motherfucker even though I buy the album afterwards haha

Those are the songs that were more frequently circulated, that's all.Checkmate (or whatever you wanna call it) also was partially leaked remember? Guest Satanisk_Slakt
No, not really. I think it was Axl that leaked them on purpose so that he could see what reactions they may have caused.
plonker88
I think Axl has known for a long time what the tracklist was going to be for Chinese and those were the tracks being circulated around the big wigs and friends of the band and that's why they were leaked. The only real exception to that, I think, is Catcher because that leaked so long ago and kind of in a stand alone moment, it didn't come along with any other songs or any sort of fuss, it just came and went by itself so I think that was an insular incident. ChineseDemocracy2004
Yes. I think the leaks are responsible for the tracklisting we have. It's a shame I only knew 3 new songs when the album came out but I'll learn not to download a new track if a new one was going to be released officially. So that pretty much backs up what I said, does it not?You can claim what ever you want but my so called facts as you call them when it comes to the album have always been right. You can claim what ever you want my track record of being correct speaks for itself. There is a reason why all of the songs on CD were leaks, its because the label was forcing the album out, Axl never wanted it released, and it was a rush job. That is why the booklet was all fucked up, and that is why Axl did not promote it. Axl just put all the leaks on the album just to get it out.CITR was supposed to be on the THIRD album remember? Or are you too much of a newbie to know, yet it was on CD.It really amazes me at the people that bash me, dont even know their new gnr history. Why would he bother making an album in the first place if he never wanted to release it? And with talk of a follow up, i don't buy that Axl never wanted to put out Chidem, but im curious as to why you think that.
