Zint
This book I recommend to anyone interested in the early scene,I mean the early scene.New York,London,Toronto...that's where it was happening. This book is an oral history,it's told by the people who were there.Which is great becuase it's not some journalist waxing philosophic (or romantic)...it's told by the people who lived, created it,survived it.It's also a great look into what was happening before punk crystallized, the genesis, the sparks that led to the explosion.Emphasis is on Toronto (and a few Ontario key cities...Hamilton,London),but it also incorporates NYC and London Eng. into the picture and how it was all influencing each other.Great story on the Ramones first gig outside of the States (perhaps even NYC)...they played a Toronto indie movie theatre that showed movies you would never get screenings of anywhere else.If the for-real early days of the punk scene are of interest to you, this is great read.Already in its third pressing.
