redrum
I'm looking to get a guitar tone as close as possible to Jimmy Page. Specifically his les paul sound. I've looked everywhere and tried various amp and tone settings. I use a line 6 with a Les Paul plugged in straight which isnt ideal as I know a Page's sound is largely Marshall. Any ideas?? Thanks in advance
moreblack
Since you can't use a Marshall amp, try a Marshall pedal like the Bluesbreaker. Takes some tweaking but it gives that old bluesy overdrive sound..
redrum
cheers man, just checked it out.sounds really great for blues based rock.May scrap the amp though for a cheap marshall. Really dont like the line 6.Way too digital and does nothing to compliment the guitars natural sound.
zepsun
I'm convinced he would have his wah on constantly to the toe as a filter. That and not much distortion.... try it...Either that or he had an EQ probably boosted around 2-4khz
