Anyone think A "Guns N' Roses Rock Band" game

Would never happen because it wouldn't sell without the original band being the characters on stage. Axl would never let that happen and Activision would never spend money developing a game with only the new band.

So, this whole thread is pointless.

Yes as you are so misinformed as Activison do the Guitar Hero games, not Rock Band so your entire post was pointless.

I get the two games mixed up all the time. Still, doesn't matter. EA is basically the same fucking company. Make a successful IP, rehash the same shit over and over and over again until people get sick of it and then move on.

In the past year there have been 6/7 games in the Guitar Hero/ Hero Franchise.

And no Rock Band games from EA. Yeah really rehashing it, especially as in RB3 you can use a real guitar and actually play the real notes which no game has done before as realistically or accurately. Yeah really rehashing.

First off, you're playing a glorified hot lixx guitar from the 80's....so talking about "realistic and accurate" playing is fucking ridiculous. Secondly, by the end of this year they will have released SIX different Rock Bands in three years. Even if you don't want to count the Beatles and Lego games, that's still three main games in three years.

Who does that sound like? Yup, Activision.

Those Rockband games where they do the whole band like Aerosmith, The Beattles, Green Day cost alot of money to make.

Realistically, other than a few message board people, who on earth is going to buy a Rockband GNR that has no Slash in it? No developer is going to spend the money it costs to make a game like that and be left with a product that is completely unmarketable.

Because you are playing a real fucking guitar that you can plug into an amp and use as a real one. And what are you playing in the game? The real guitar licks and tabs from the real fucking song if you play on expert so as you work up it is teaching you to play real songs.

And 3 games in 3 years? There was 1 in 07, 1 in 08 for the main series. None in 09 and one in 10. Thats 3 games in 4 years you tool much different to Activisions 14 games in 5 years.

Okay guys thanks a lot, it makes more sense now about GNR. I would love to play some UYI era songs, hell actually all their songs lol. It would be tough for them to make all the character models and get the rights from everyone ranging from Dizzy to Gilby Clarke. Then for it to make sense the character models would have to fit the album youre playing, so Izzy is not playing any "Spaghetti Incident?" stuff for example. I think if they did release a DLC album, that Axl should give like 3 new songs from the future album to download. That way if we can play "The General" early, then it could give it more publicity. It would be great if they released a GNR unreleased track pack with like "Crash Diet", Bring it Back Home", Cornshucker", "Just Another Sunday", and "Shadow of Your Love" to name a few. Well i guess ill be playing some Chinese Democracy now lol.

The fake (yes, it's still fake...hence the lack of harmonics) guitar you're talking about is a separate $200.00 add on that hardly anyone is even going to buy and play. Pretty expense considering you're still playing make believe with a toy like a 10 year old child. And the first Rockband was released in November 07. Rockband 3 will drop at the end us this year, which is three years. That's three main titles in three years. That's six overall titles in three years.

That's called rehash city. Rhythm games have already seen declining sales and thanks to EA and Activision, it won't be long before they're dead and buried.

Yes that guitar is fake isn't it. I mean being able to play the game through an amp the same time as playing it through the game really make believe by teaching you to play the real songs. Not exactly the 5 coloured buttons being rehashed anymore is it?

No one I know plays these games for the characters on the stage. If The Beatles game would've had the default avatars from the normal series it most likely would've moved a lot of copies anyways. Guns N' Roses is a huge name, too, and since it'd only be comprised of material from AFD to TSI it'd most likely move a lot of copies as well, despite who's on the stage.

And EA only distributes these games. MTV Games publishes it and Harmonix developes it. The guitar for the game is incredibly close to a real guitar. There's one made by MadCatz (I think) that has buttons for frets but there is one being made by Fender with 6 real strings and real frets like a normal guitar. Guitar tabs scroll down the screen to the best of my knowledge and you have to play your fingers in the correct spaces and strum the guitar like a normal guitar. There are a few things that they couldn't get right, but this is incredibly closer to playing real guitar than anything they've had before. And it is a real guitar you dolt, you just don't do things like palm muting and other techniques made impossible through a video game when playing the game. You can take this guitar and plug it into an amp and play it like a real guitar, though. And saying that they've released 3 games in 3 years is freaking idiotic. No one says that EA releases 2 Madden games a year, so a Rock Band game coming out in '07, the second in '08, and one in '09 would usually be considered three games in three years. To say that the third coming out in November of '10 is three games in three years is stupid. Like I said, no one says franchises like Madden, NHL, NBA, etc., etc. release twice a year.

The fender guitar has full 6 strings on the frets and the light censor is to know the position of the hand on the neck. Watch the video you can see the fucking guy going bends and harmonics on the strings you idiot because its a real fucking guitar.

Here's what IGN said...

The one thing you can't do with it is play harmonic notes, which are performed by very lightly touching a string on the neck of a guitar and plucking.

You can't play harmonic notes IN THE GAME.

Two new guitar controllers in the works have actual strings where you strum; one is a full-sized, fully functional six-string Squier Stratocaster from Fender. "It can tell where your fingers are based on technology in the neck and the bridge of the guitar. No buttons," Drake says. "While you're playing it, it feels exactly like playing a real guitar," because that's what you're doing.

http://www.usatoday.com/tech/gaming/2010-06-10-rockband10_VA_N.htm

Jesus Christ dude, I can show you a dozen links that say this is a fully functional electric guitar. Because it is. You can't play harmonics and the such in the game itself, but you can plug the guitar in an amp and play it as a FULLY functional guitar.

Uh huh. Well I have an American made Fender Strat right here, about 10 feet from me that I purchased and let me tell you something....there's no light censors on the fret board and it cost a little more then a few hundred dollars. Oh wait, that's right....it's a fucking SQUIER....nevermind.

It's still a toy...just one you can plug into an amp.

Dude, it's a Fender that you can play like any other guitar. The sensors are for the purpose of the game. Do you think they use magic to find out where your hands are when playing the game?

What makes a guitar a guitar to you? The lack of light sensors? It has the same number of strings and frets as a normal guitar and you can play it like a normal guitar. It's a guitar. Unless of course the absense of light sensors is the defining feature of a guitar, but I don't think it is.

Yes, having light censors and (I'm guessing ) game specific outs on the thing sort of, kind of...makes it not a guitar. And stop fucking talking as if anyone is going to take this cheaply made piece of shit Squier on stage with their band or record an album with it. Even regular Squier's are junk.

Can't see it happening to be honest. I also wonder how many more versions of these games they can release before people say enough is enough. We still get drunk and play Guitar Hero 3, i'm not buying another one.

I don't really play the Rock Band games as it would be pointless as I can play real life instruments.

However, to those who don't play instruments they do look like good fun.

I'm a huge Beatles fan and think that the Beatles Rock Band game looked phenomenal, the animations were a thing of beauty and the special instrument controllers you could get looked very nice indeed.

I think a GN'R Rock Band would be awsome but which lineup would you use? Personally, I'm all for sticking to the current lineup but then would the games sell? Although saying that the Van Halen Guitar Hero game used Wolfgang instead of Michael Anthony on bass.
