Axl Knows
The following bands are terrible now and are only in it for the money. They need to retire ASAP and stop embarassing themselves1. U2... the absolute no.1 media whores of the music world. Completely passionless onstage AND in the studio. Fake humanitarians. No Line on the Horizon was the definition of fail. They jumped the shark with Pop and are just going through the motions now. Bono's voice was always annoying but now he sounds like he struggles to sing at all. Retire, has beens. You're shit now.2. KISS - Have always been a gimmick. Look at their back catalogue. Some of the worst albums ever put out by any band ever3. Aerosmith - People only care because the American blues rock scene sucks so much ass4. Judas Priest - Gay and metal don't mix5. Iron Maiden - Cliched and boring now. The new single is fail.6. Radiohead - Always failed at trying to be intellectual and trying to be The Beatles. Thom Yorke sounds like Jeff Buckley. Drowning. 7. Pearl Jam - Inferior to Soundgarden in every way. Had one good album but Vedder's best work was when he sang backup for Chris Cornell on Temple of the Dog8. Foo Fighters - Feeding off of Kurt's death for years9. Green Day - Plagiarists, and with the worst lead singer in mainstream rock10. The Verve - The slightly shitttier version of Oasis. Don't come back again tossers.Who else? moreblack
As long as you have an audience, I don't see why you'd wanna screw them out of new music.

Axl Knows
I forgot to mention The Killers in the OP. They're the worst thing to happen to rock in a long, long time.
bacardimayne
I don't think these bands should retire from touring, just making new music. AC/DC, Iron Maiden, Rush, Aerosmith, Kiss, The Rolling StonesSeriously, just tour around and play the hits. No one wants to hear your new shit. It's all terrible. It's all terrible.same goes for GNRNah, NUGNR are first of all a completely different line-up, writing and playing mostly a completely different type of music to what made them famous. They ARE esentially an Axl solo band and alot of people love the new stuff. Completely different from bands like Maiden who release the exact same album over and over again but with diminishing quality.

People don't really care. They wanna hear certain songs from the band's catalogue, and it ain't Better or This I Love...CD material didn't put those butts in the seats. Axl Knows
CD material didn't put those butts in the seats.No. Axl does.People who go to the GNR concerts want to hear Axl's new material as much as they want to hear Slash's new stuff at his shows. To deny that is blatant bias. Edited July 15, 2010 by Axl Knows
moreblack
CD material didn't put those butts in the seats.No. Axl does. The songs do, if Axl went out and played nothing but new stuff, he wouldn't be playing those size gigs.

Axl Knows
That's because the statement is so obvious it doesn't even warrant replying to. Chris Cornell's solo gigs are smaller than his SG ones were for a reason dude. Doesn't make them any less amazing. Doesn't mean he needs to retire. Axl Knows
Doesn't mean he needs to retire.it's not up to you who should retire or who doesn't.No, it's not up to me, but it's my opinion that when your band becomes a broken record, releasing album after album of the same material to gain some extra dough, it's time to call it quits...Axl tours when he wants to and releases albums when he wants to. He mixes things up musically and tries new things. You comparing New GNR to Kiss or Aerosmith or U2 is laughable. THAT's a reason to retire?

The songs aren't different in style at all, except for maybe shacklers, but shacklers just sucksON TOPIC:as much as I hate to say it, after seeing The Who's superbowl performance I think its about time they give it a rest Edited July 15, 2010 by sweetness
