Future Of Stuff To Come

Okay so now we have Chinese Democracy, and after the delay of what Azoff tried to do the band is finally on tour. With the occasional break between legs. With all the stuff going on it's got me wondering what's in store for the future. I enjoy hearing the opinions of other fellow GN'R fans so I decided to make a discussion topic.

We all know that there are more songs to come and perhaps a remix album which seems to be in the process of being compiled.

Everyone knows of the other demos that have been rumored to be circulating around whether unheard or old demos of what we have anyone feel we might hear them anytime?

and lastly... We have heard the rumors/hopes for the concerts to be brought to us in some format online or in other ways.

Off topic - congrats on winning the tickets to sturgis. You deserve it man.

Yeah! Enjoy every second of it!

Back on topic.... Before June things looked very promising for a November release. All those rumors, many, many rumors.... Even on that NY Post about Axl being on NYC, it had a paragraph that said that Axl was setting the releases of the new album.

But we have no news since June or so...

Thank you everyone for the support but due to scheduling I won't be able to attend the concert. But I do have high hopes of seeing them as soon as I can and I am looking into it quite a bit.

But as for this topic.

I remember reading that and hearing them tossing around the name Guns N Roses for the next album. It would make sense due to promotional ads for some of the tour but I imagine if they were doing that they would have to be touring that album and playing those songs at least.

But I don't know.

Well, I hope we see at least one brand new song on the next leg.

I don't hope to see any at Rock N' Rev and Leeds & Reading, but in the following dates, GNR only, if a new album is really coming, I think they would play somethings.

The Remix Album

Modern Drummer Interview, April 12, 2009.

- You've brought GUNS N' ROSES up to the minute with these drum tracks, like the break-beat intro before the big grooves come in.

Brain: Axl is really interested in having everybody bring what they do into the picture. I just did a remix of "Shackler's Revenge" — made it kind of more club. And I think he wants to put out a remx album of some of the other songs we did. The great thing is he lets you do what you do. He still has the final say and wants it to work as a GUNS N' ROSES cut. But he definitely will let you stretch it out in that way, and I think that's where my influences come in. I listen to a lot hip-hop and R&B. I listen to all of Questlove's productions. Every time a ROOTS album comes out I'm in line at the store, I'm still a fan that way.

NewGNRnOldGNR Interview, July 18, 2010.

NewGNRnOldGNR: Axl mentioned that you were "working on things for the band" during his forum appearances in December 2008, what exactly did and are you working on for the band?

Brian: That's top secret stuff!!!

- Seeing as your involvement with the band now consists of mainly studio work, is it fair to say that you will be featured on a future Guns N' Roses album?

Brian: I hope so!!!!!

- Regarding your current work with Guns N' Roses in the studio, have there been any possible tracks you have worked on which have really stood out for you?

Brian:Can't talk about the top secret shit Smiley.

ManetsBR Interview, July 20, 2010.

- In February 28, 2009, when asked if you were still in the band, Axl said "Last I checked. Brain works on several things with Guns either from his home or in the studio." How does that work?

Brian: i'm doing some top secret shit right now!!!!!!!!

- Many songs are left from the Chinese Democracy sessions. Do you recorded in all of them?

Brian: yes... most of them.

- Are there any plans on releasing this material? Would you know if there were plans?

Brian: no i wouldn't... i leave that shit for the suits. i'm just into makin' the MUSIC!!!!!

-When did you last wrote or recorded something to Guns N' Roses?

Brian: Been doing some cool re-mixes for guns!!! That shit is sick!!! It's gonna rip peoples faces off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

http://www.brainandmelissa.com/, July 18, 2010.

Both Brain and Melissa had the foresight early on to drive their musical careers in more than one direction. Though they each have an impressive list of accomplishments in their own right, as a production team they are becoming a force to reckon with. These days the pair is involved in a plethora of composing, writing and scoring projects. This year alone they have already done two major game themes for Sony Playstation, several pieces of original music for Playstation home, and are also scoring a major Playstation series release set for February 2011. They have produced three Guns N’ Roses remixes from Chinese Democracy at the request of Axl Rose to be released on an upcoming remix album, and they have just come off scoring the E3 2010 Xbox media briefing convention for Microsoft. The duo has also done numerous film trailer pieces some of which can be heard on Casa Verdugo, the forthcoming media LP from Howling Entertainment. Currently, Brain and Melissa are gearing up for the release of the first volume of three avant-garde 5-disc sets they are doing collaboratively with Buckethead entitled “Best Regards”.

No need to be a prick, I only mentioned the break between legs because some have rumored it as time to go into the studio.

The remix idea is very interesting. I think a lot of songs on CD have awesome potential as remixes, if they're done right of course.

I believe, and I think it makes a lot of sense, that CD wasn't the actual album that Axl wanted to put out there. First off, the booklet is all fucked up. Secondly, there are technical glitches in Scraped. There's no way they would have put that on there like that, so it shows that somebody fucked up by letting it get on there. Those are just some of the things that are obvious to spot out, so just imagine what we don't know about.

I think the leaks influenced the track list, and probably took CD far away from what it was supposed to be originally. We know that Catcher wasn't supposed to be on there, but it was, probably due to the fact that it leaked. I think that goes for a lot of the other songs too.

While CD is a great album, I sometimes feel like it wasn't the actual album they wanted to put out. I don't know if we'll ever know the answers to that. I would have thought that they would have wanted to put out the best album possible as the first release, however, it is very likely they saved a lot of the better material for later releases, due to the belief that CD would sell well and be successful no matter what material was there, just because of the hype and the wait.

Then again, we really have no idea. CD would have been the album they did intend on releasing. New GNR was such a mammoth project that they might have gotten lost in the whole thing and didn't know how to proceed with it.

But I think the remix idea has a lot of potential. It would make sense to release something like that. Maybe make it more pop/hip, and make it appealing to the younger crowd etc. If it were successful, it would likely bring a lot of interest to the original CD, and the band in general. But of course, promotion is the key to all of this, and I'm not seeing it happen.

Its going good, I feel like I'm getting over the sick phase but they said I will have my good days then I will have some bad days. Right now I'm just hoping for the best and keeping with doing what I like to do.

Here's what I think:

In 2011 the decade long Chinese Democracy Tour finally comes to an end. Before the end of the tour Chinese Democracy II (if indeed they'll call it that) could be released drawing a line under the Chinese Democracy era. A live compilation could follow featuring live performances of songs from 2001-2011 and this rumoured remix album that Brian is working on. The band take a break and work on a completely new album, written by all the current members, no leftovers from the CD sessions. It's released in late 2012 or 2013 and a tour follows. The album is received far better than Chinese as it doesn't have any of the baggage of Chinese.

My secret hope is that they are going to write new material after the tour as DJ said.

But I'm not holding my breath. I'm grateful that I will get to see them in september.

If they don't do anything after the tour, then I don't see the point :shrugs:

gnr are irrelevant unless they have a reunion. Just listen to the mashups and there you have it.

You really do overrate the shit out of those things.
