Guns n' Roses ticket sales.

So being bored this fine Sunday I decided to add up all the attendances on Wikipedia(I know, not too reliable) to see what the ticket sales have been like.

I got 930,200. That means this tour is more successful than last time. Of course I include the festivals; take them out and you have about 700,000. Even then that's impressive, but I have seen some inconsistency on the page though. For example, I know that the Montreal show in Canada was sold out, and some of the attendances looked shaky. So take all these with a grain of salt, but it is something to think about.

Yeah its pretty amazing for a band who don't 'promote' themselves to the 'maintstream'

Another thing that would be interesting is the record (cd) sales. I remember in '06 there was an increase of the greatest hits cd sales for example. Anyone know if the tour so far as contributed to an increase in record sales?

I check the most sold albums here in Denmark sometimes and I was surprised to see Greatest Hits ranging at #36 in week 34. I don't know if it has to do with anything, just found it interesting.

There was a big debate about Chinese Democracy's record sales here a few months ago.

People seemed to agree that the wikipedia estimate (5 million sold) was wrong.

It seemed to be about 600,000 in the states, 1.5 million in Europe, and about half a million in the rest of the world (sold, not shipped).

That's pretty good considering the lack of publicity.

Don't believe the figure of 5 million sold; that's probably 5 million shipped, if that.

One problem with chinese democracy is that it had no staying power as an album. Most people who bought it bought it straight away,

and because there was no marketing non-hardcore fans did not step in to carry on the sales.

they are close to, if not pass, 1 mill, because you left out the 4 shows from Asia.

do you think that GNR played their longest shows ever in front of half full arenas such Tokyo Dome and Osaka Dome? lets say, that, for this 2 they had only 70.000 and with the other 2, which I know that they weren't full, but close to, we add another 30.000, and this calculations, are just on average.

so yeap! GNR rull!

It was 5.6 million worldwide according to Billboard Magazine. I think it was like 1.2 million in the U.S and 4 million in Europe or something like that. But that could just be shipped.

That record just keeps going and going, shame we can't see Chinese back in the charts.

It's really sad that Chi Dem was never promoted properly. It is it's downfall.

I mean there aren't even any official videos? Not even tour footage edited together. Such a shame. We live in a misinformed era where promoters use UYI tour pictures to promote concerts and people attending these concerts wondering where slash is

Chi Dem is one of the albums (well for me anyway) that took some listening to in order to understand and appreciate it. NOW I love it. It took a lot of plays. I saw a thread a while back about 'digesting' the album it is very true. After seeing the songs played live, that also renewed my interest.

Hopefully the tour will help Chi Dem sales. However, a casual fan is more likely to pick up a greatest hits CD over the latest one for moneys worth and as there are no Chi Dem songs on the cd then its just a vicious circle really :shrugs:

Anyway I'm sure this is all old territory on here by now
