I might be going to the one in Gothenburg. Last time I saw them there was the best (Together with AC/DC a few years later at the same stadium) concert I've been to. It was showed in Swedish TV and you can probably download it somewhere if you're interested.

The problem is that I don't care for any songs after the '80's with the exception from Fear of the Dark. And the 05 tour when I saw them they had one "back in the days" tour or whatever you'd call them. Only playing stuff from the first four albums if I recall.

Personally I love the fact that they have so much confidence on their new and more recent material that they tour it and don't play much older stuff. The thing is though is that when they finish a tour of new material the next tour will focus on older so called "classic" material. Bruce has confirmed that they will be doing another Greatest Hits type tour after this one so you would be better waiting for that rather than going to one where it's songs that you're not familiar with or not interested in hearing.

on the other hand, there are some of us that have been on this ride so long it's refreshing not to hear Trooper or Run To The Hills for the billionth time, so after the SBIT tour, this was the perfect follow up. I can only hope they do more than just El Dorado from Final Frontier...

Definately agree with that. The tour that they've played this year has been highlightin material from the past decade and obviously El Dorado was in there too. Considering though that the next legs will be properly in support of the record so they will likely play a fair amount (if not the whole thing) of it live along with a handful from the post reunion material I think.

This. I honestly do not miss ANY of the classics that weren't played. I'd take Ghost Of The Navigator, Dance Of Death, and Blood Brothers over The Trooper, Run To The Hills, and 2 Minutes To Midnight any day. I said it after the first of my 10 TFF shows in Toronto back in July: This very well may be the best Maiden tour EVER. And I stand by that after seeing the show 10 times: It NEVER disappointed. Perfect setlist (Other than the glaring omission of Paschendale after the first few US shows), AWESOME stage, best lighting rig they've EVER used.

On the topic of next year's setlist:

A couple of months back, Bruce said in an interview they're looking at doing 5 songs of TFF:

Satellite 15...The Final Frontier

El Dorado

Coming Home

The Talisman

When The Wild Wind Blows

Personally, I'd rather see them do The Man Who Would Be King instead of The Talisman, but I can't argue with the other 4. I'd assume S15 will be the intro tape, and TFF will technically be the first song. I think the tour is going to again be a lot of post-2000 songs, and I could see it looking something like this:

0. Satellite 15

1. The Final Frontier

2. Rainmaker

3. El Dorado

4. Coming Home

5. The Longest Day

6. Blood Brothers

7. The Talisman

8. Different World

9. These Colours Don't Run

10. When The Wild Wind Blows

11. Brave New World

12. Fear Of The Dark

13. Iron Maiden

---encore---

14. Run To The Hills

15. Hallowed Be Thy Name

16. Sanctuary

powerage, have you heard anything about more US dates?

No confirmation, but it's assumed they'll be back around May/June. Most people are expecting around the same number of shows as this year (Which was 25 North American shows I believe). Bruce did confirm at one point there would be more than one Florida show in 2011. LA/NY shows are essentially give-ins, as well as Chicago, and probably Boston. I'm hoping for a good number of East Coast shows again, as I'll be doing any and all shows in the North East, as well as Eastern Canada. Also, in talking to one of the fan club members I met in Europe this Summer, he's going to let us stay at his house in Florida, so I'm in for Florida this Summer. Looks like I have potential to do 10 Maiden gigs for the second year in a row! :D

awesome! i, on the other hand, am simply hoping for a follow up to mansfield 08. roll on boston!

I'll definitely be driving out to Boston again, assuming there's a Mansfield date. '08 was a blast, and the best Maiden show I'd seen before this Summer. Still top 5 for sure though, even after all the amazing ones I saw!

It would be fantastic to see them do another US tour, although they'll probably do a primarily hits setlist, they can't get away with doing a set of newer songs again it pissed so many people off, I for one loved it since Brave New World's one of my all time favorite maiden albums.

I think this is a HUGE generalization based on a minority that makes themselves noticed. In the 10 Maiden shows I went to this Summer, I experienced MAYBE 10 people who were legitimately disappointed in the setlist. Surprisingly, the Canadians actually seemed less receptive to the newer material than the Americans. In the 5 US shows, there was nothing but positive energy (Even when we weren't in the pit at MSG and in Detroit), except for a couple of whiners behind us in Pittsburgh. And of course, the Swedes and Norwegians loved every second of the show. At Sonisphere in Stockholm, even with all the mud and the number of people who weren't there for Maiden, everyone was just having a blast. And it's not just that people appreciated the music, people knew a majority of the songs EVERYWHERE. I'm listening to the Ottawa bootleg as I'm typing this, and I get chills when I hear the crowd singing along to songs like No More Lies, Brave New World, These Colours Don't Run, etc. Even El Dorado, everyone seemed to know it.

I have no doubt that they pull off a setlist like this again, be it next year or in the future.

Setlist of new (2000-2010) songs, yes.

Setlist which just plays the album from start to finish, no.

This. I wasn't trying to say it would be right to play TFF front to back. The crowd reaction on the AMOLAD Tour was piss poor in Toronto, and not much more receptive elsewhere from what I've heard. But I don't see anything wrong with focusing primarily on the last ten years again.

Well I'm glad the crowds at your shows were great but the maiden show i was at it seemed like me & my friend were the only ones singing along to thee new songs, & a lot of my friends who saw the show were saying how they didn't care for the new stuff which i found extremely disappointing. Maybe I just need more friends who love Maiden as much as me but a lot of people were downing it.

  • 4 weeks later...

UPDATE: Sunrise, FL date (4/16) was leaked by Ticketmaster yesterday. This is presumed to be the last date of the Ed Force One leg. According to the band's site, more dates will be announced on 11/2 (This coming Tuesday). This batch of dates is expected to be the Asian shows before Australia, and possibly New Zealand and South America in March and April. I'll keep editing shows into the first post as they're confirmed.

Oh, and I'm in for Florida! B)

Is that gonna be the only show in the US around april?

Rumor is a show in Tampa the day before Sunrise. There's yet to be a confirmation that there will be a US tour period, but it's generally assumed by the fan club that they'll be doing a US tour in May into June, then Europe starts around the time of Roskilde (6/29). But it's a pretty safe bet Florida will be the only US dates in April, unless they do LA, NYC area, and Toronto a la Somewhere Back In Time as well.

I'm not quite sure yet if I'm gonna attend Roskilde Festival next year. If I do, I'll probably go and see Iron Maiden. I'm not such a big fan of them, but I enjoy their biggest hits. The only album I own is "Rock in Rio", but I would love to experience a concert like that one, though that probably won't happen.
