Would It Have Made Any Difference?

We could give "what ifs?" a million ways to fukin sunday. The fact is things changed when Izzy left. People here can dispute this as much as they like but the fact is the game changed dramatically when Izzy left when they were filming the video for 'Dont Cry'. ....Izzy was the median which made everyone get along peacefully....in that sense Izzy was the back-bone since he helped everyone work together peacefully. Without Izzy Axl and Slash couldnt get along. They needed a guy to create a "white flage zone" to meet eachothers needs. Cuz the fact is Axl and Slash are very different people and need a middle man to get along

What if Izzy had decided to be the band's producer and collaborator on songwriting, but not go on tour with them? They still would've had other producers come in, but he would've been behind the console and helping Axl out. Might have cut 5 years off the release date. Producers usually serve as the problem solver (although some are problem causers).

Amen to that.

Aside from the human relations, music-wise -- Izzy provided the structure for their music. His solo material (almost any given song, and there are a lots of them) sounds to me like Guns-Deconstructed.

For those of you not familiar with his body of work, here is a taste of it, enjoy!

Thanks for agreeing....after Izzy left there was enough talent to carry on but the part that kept everyone together was gone

Yeah. I bet every band that lasts, has a figure like that. In AC DC, it’s Malcolm Young (kind of a quiet and authoritative guy who founded the band, the older brother figure), in Motley Crue that would be Nikki Six (founder, and man in the middle the singer and Tommy Lee; two apparently couldn’t stand each other). In Stones, man in the middle is Ron Wood. As he had some troubles recently (drugs, ex-girlfriends, tabloids etc.), and was gone from the picture, the relationship in between Mick and Keith deteriorated quite a bit. Interestingly all these guys play rhythm guitars… go figure.
