Snake Eyes Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 This is the first new tune out, not the single though. Didn't like it at first but it's growing on me. Cool new 60s direction. Quote
axl_on_drums Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 Love it.Wonder if Josh Homme was involved at all. Sure sounds like it. Quote
Jumpin' Jack Flash Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 Reminds me a bit of Hendrix in some parts. I like it Quote
Changes Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 Reminds me a bit of Hendrix in some parts. I like it Exactly what I thought Actually heard an interview with Alex where he said they had been listening to Hendrix. I also think they mentioned Cream and Sabbath. Quote
KetchupNotMayo Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 Very nice, already got me more interested than Humbug did... we shall see Turner, we shall see. Quote
Lose Your Illusions Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 Its alright..Trying to keep an open mind to it but nothing they have done has come close to Whatever People Say I Am Thats What I'm Not. Quote
JAC185 Posted March 5, 2011 Posted March 5, 2011 Trying to keep an open mind to it but nothing they have done has come close to Whatever People Say I Am Thats What I'm Not.This is my problem. I fell in love with that album and that band. I loved the energy and the stories and everything. Progressively, as they have matured musically (and lyrically) in parts they have ironically moved away from what I loved about them. I often tend to prefer debut records but this is something different. It is not that I want them to be younger again. In fact when I saw them at Reading in 2009 alot of people around me were bored as they played alot of midtempo numbers. I thought it was a brave move and quite enjoyed it. They deliberately showed they were growing up (girls were fucking screaming in horror at Alex having long hair from what I recall), they played well and I respected them for it. They didn't want to just play Dancefloor over and over. When Humbug came out I got what they were going for it just didn't really connect with me.I think this song is quite cool but that is about it. Will give the album a go of course, I guess I probably just have to realise I will not be much of a fan of much they do in the future, which is a peculiar situation to be in, as it is not as if I find them shit these days or anything and just dismiss them, it just doesn't resonate with me really. Snake Eyes Posted March 10, 2011 Author Posted March 10, 2011 So excited for this. I've been a fan from the start, and it's good to see them mature into themselves. Humbug was my favourite they've done but I have high hopes for this. Quote
