Izzy_Stradlin_XX Posted March 13, 2011 Posted March 13, 2011 Ok i was just watching that video of Paradise city at the LA Coliseum where Axl says he was quiting the band.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UbR7mkKXQU0Don't you think that's kinda weird that the first guy who wanted out is the still member of GN'R?Lol.
c4liforni4 Posted March 13, 2011 Posted March 13, 2011 I think he was fired (or almost fired?) for couple of weeks back in the day.
Izzy_Stradlin_XX Posted March 13, 2011 Author Posted March 13, 2011 I think he was fired (or almost fired?) for couple of weeks back in the day.Yeah, but that was like 1986.I remeber reading that Slash and Izzy where serously talking about Axl's future as a band member because he was late for a show.I think Slash said they where 20 minutes late because of Axl and Gene Simmons was giving him a bad look. That day they wanted to fire Axl, but later he explained why he was late, and, all things considered, he was excused for being late.
Changes Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 Axl was joking about this himself in the late 80's, how he was threatening to quit every other day so nobody took it seriously anyway. Listen to the wonderful wake up call on Howard Stern in 1989 for example!
saber_ Posted March 15, 2011 Posted March 15, 2011 Clearly something inspired him to say that. What could it have been? What is the meaning behind it? Heheh.
31illusions Posted March 19, 2011 Posted March 19, 2011 I thought there was one where Axl says he's quitting unless someone stops "Dancing with mr. brownsone" at one of these shows? Then slash had to come out before the show and apologize before Axl would come on stage.
Janis Posted March 19, 2011 Posted March 19, 2011 I thought there was one where Axl says he's quitting unless someone stops "Dancing with mr. brownsone" at one of these shows? Then slash had to come out before the show and apologize before Axl would come on stage. And Slash said on VH1 behind the music that he never really forgave Axl after that. He prob should've done that in private but it seems Slash needs a huge wake-up call.
ssiscool Posted April 22, 2011 Posted April 22, 2011 Clearly something inspired him to say that. What could it have been? What is the meaning behind it? Heheh. That was at the L.A Collisium in 89 when they were opening for the Stones. Axl refused to go on until Slash apologised. In 1991, Just as the band was kicking off the Use Your Illusion world Tour, Axl threatened to quit unless the band signed over the rights to the name. That's why he is the only one left now.
