Todo Poderoso Timão Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 I really do think and hope GNR are playing Rock in Rio October 2nd (the only day lasting). And I don't fucking care if it's Chinese Democracy, Illusions, Appetite, 2000 Intentions or what the fuck ever.I just want to see GNR for the 3rd time in life, and for me, brazilian, it's an unique opportunity: I can't see another one any time soon.
Nick85 Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 Not sure why the prospect of 1 show featuring the same setlist we've gotten for the past year excites people. Now if they were doing RIR in support of the next album, and not a continuation of the never-ending Chinese Democracy tour, that would be a different story.
AxlIsGod. Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 Some of you say that "we dont have much chance with GNR's track record" but look at the past years. they first immerged with UYI tracks in 1991 at Rio. In 2001 it was their first big gig outside of club shows and they emerged with the CD tracks. then in 2004 it looked like Rio would convince axl to re-appear again if it werent for Buckethead's departure. Now, im not saying i fully believe we'll get new tracks (although theres a chance) but it seems that Rio is the only gig that makes axl come out of hiatus, because he has a certain respect for brazil and this festival. I think we might see them at rio this year.

Seems like Axl really loves those two locales.
kyrie Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 No new album for this band. Still cashing in on songs from over 25 years ago.Has it been that long since Chinese Democracy already?Twat. And Slash/Black Eyed Peas weren't doing the same by using Sweet Child O' Mine during the Superbowl?

I believe that would make them the first three-time headliner? Or if not, one of the few. They also always seem to pull off awesome shows there, the 2001 gig was excellent. Also, lets face it:Guns N' Roses, Rock In Rio 2, 1991Guns N' Roses, Rock In Rio 3, 2001Guns N' Roses, Rock In Rio 4, 2011Thirty years apart and you can't see why that's cool? Btw I've labeled them 2/3/4 because the Madrid/Lisboa shows were named separately (see Wikipedia). As much as I'd love a new album, they definitely should do this show!

You telling me Fergie flubbing Paradise City with Cypruss Hill yammering in it isn't an insult? Slash popping out with a lit up top hat like a sideshow act at the Superbowl isn't an insult? Trying to keep his name in the news by bringing up the band all the time (again this week), or name-dropping the flavour of the month (Justin Bieber, I'll take the kid to a strip club!) isn't an insult? It's TMZ level tiedium. It makes me embarassed for the guy. It makes me think Axl was right about him. And I love him, as a guitarist, but he needs to shut up and play.Like him or not Axl has shunned the press, avoided gimmicks, and done little more than finally get an album out, have a vault full of songs, tour, get drunk, get into a couple confrontations - rock star shit. You know, like rock stars are supposed to?Not chaperone Justin Bieber to his first titty show, or offer to. Not spend weeks on end talking about the "hunt for a new singer" to keep interest up. Imagine Axl giving daily press updates on the search for a new guitarist when they selected DJ?You may not like that he calls it Guns N' Roses but he isn't a whore for the money or the spotlight. He's simply sticking to his vision for what the band could have been.Axl owns the rights to the name (hell it's based in part on his name and Tracii Guns) and that's life. If you're still not over the name, well you're just living in the past. Edited March 18, 2011 by kyrie

Mal'Akh Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 That's simply because Rock in Rio is the name of the brand.By the way....
2x4 Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 So, the line up listed on the RIR site, Metallica, Elton John, Slipknot ect, are they all confirmed for this year?

bumblerose Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 I'm pretty sure system of a down will headline since they won that vote by a mile. I don't see gunners on the list, hopefully they get to be part of this.

zepsun Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 He could be talking about Replacements...or side project... he didn't mention Guns N' Roses..
GNR123GNR456 Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 He could be talking about Replacements...or side project... he didn't mention Guns N' Roses..Replacements? Side-project?Nah. He's a member of GN'R. If it was a side project or something else other than Guns N' Roses, I'm pretty sure he'd mention it. And, by the way. I'm sick of these cryptic messages. Either say it, or don't. Remember the lay down some track's, what happened to that?

I don't see gunners on the list, hopefully they get to be part of this. That vote didn't mean shit.On the pop vote, Britney Spears won by a mile and Avril Lavigne came in second. About 4 days later they confirmed Shakira and Lenny Kravitz. Lenny had 1.99% of votes and Shakira had 2.79%. I'm guessing they had them lined up already and just wanted an estimate on how many fans will show up Edit: Avril won and Britney came in second, if it makes a difference.
