saber_
Since there are so many human GNR encyclopedias on here, I was curious to know what GNR's guitarists use for their string setups. I'm too lazy too google all this shit, so I'm googling you, the consumate GNR fan. String gauges?Action? (height of strings off fretboard)Fret width/height?Alternative tunings? Do they have the guitar techs check the intonation before each show? What special sound gizmos do they use? It was even listed on Slash snakepit.org website although that's been down for a long time now.

saber_
Oh how cute, the Slash fanboys come in to cupcake and derail the thread. Typical.
sweetness
don't know about the Chinese Democracy songs but everything else is tuned down a half step, probably hasn't changed since its generally done to make it easier for the singer to hit high notes in key but I'm not sure if that's the reason GNR tuned down in the first place. I think Slash was just inspired by how heavy Aerosmith sounded on Rocks

Yes it's because it is a lot easier for Axl to sing songs if it's half step down.If it was in the normal tuning i think he wouldn't be able to sing songs like My Michelle or If The World.
