sweetness
eh, not really... and I'm being totally honest. The music is great for the most part, the shenanigans are what keep me from embracing Axl's new vision of GNR or whatever this is supposed to be
Orsys
I've got enough routine in my life. If you want that in your music/rock stars then Slash is probably a better bet.I find GnR fun, interesting. but then I don't count on them to fulfill my entire entertainment quota. So whatever happens in GnR land is okay with me.

Snowmass
Hate it. As Axl once so prophetically sang "Once there was this rock n roll band....time went by and it became a joke".... GnR and any sort of legacy is a joke in the music world. It's an ever revolving door of musicians and a leader in Axl who doesn't know what he wants. I wouldn't say I'm embarrassed to be a GnR fan, but it is i guess a 'joke'. Us here love GnR for basically one reason, Axl Rose. If he left and they picked up a new singer, we'd all be ghandi as in outta here.

nambis
i'm guessing those of you who are saying they like the "shenanigans" are younger, new fans. i've been a fan since the late 80s and all of the crap gets old after 20 years. also, it's easy for you guys to sit behind a keyboard and say you like the crap, but try explaining that to an excited 12-year old kid who has tickets for a show that then gets cancelled.... (yea, that was me in 1992).
Cpi
Hate it. As Axl once so prophetically sang "Once there was this rock n roll band....time went by and it became a joke"I thought Izzy wrote that because he thought gn'r, even back then, had already became just a big joke in his eyes. amacfantasy
I totally agree with this topic it's what iv said for a while regarding my liking of GNR, but I must say as of recently i have started to grow tired of GNR and its shenanigans. To me its reached a point where GNR to me can do all that same stuff they have always done like be crazy, unpredictable, silent, whatever but they also need to be doing something like releasing albums, music video, interviews, tours at the same time or else the public is going to bag them even more especially following the botched release of CD1. Im getting tired of defending GNR but this could all be fixed if they would just release more music accordingly.I guess you could say GNR's weirdness and mystique has finally caught up to me, to the point now where it's a double edged sword for me. (yea, that was me in 1992). You guessed wrong in my case. And nowhere in my shenanigan description did I mention cancelled shows. If you're saying the shenanigans led to cancelled shows, fair enough, but the fact that you're here, after 20 years, means that on some level I'm right- you do like the shenanigans. From the mystery, to the intrigue, to the internet rants, to the unpredictableness, to the lawsuits, to the epic debates on lineups and personnel, GNR is fascinating in ways that no other band is. Admit it. Yes or no?Oh Hell Yes, it never ceases to amaze, and sometimes amuse me, this chaos isn't a recent development either! St.Louis 91,the phoenix airport episode, the swedish biting episode, loved the rant on Madison, throwing a chair off of the balcony at reporters, too many to mention! and Ron coming here added to the insanity, symmetry is expected but asymmetry is fucking interesting! Even the time(UYIs) axl had been up for days and had visited the Lourve, afterwards was talked into taking a boat ride on the river, but automatically changes his mind,no place for boat to dock, and everybody is going insane calling helicopters and such, was pretty funny slash freaking out and breaking through a shower door naked, claiming things were chasing him down a public street! I think DJ has caused his bit of chaos, getting them kicked out of a hotel for smoking, and the tiff with the bartender, It's fucking interesting, and no other band in the world is like this!!plus puts on a kickass gig!!Hope to hear more rants soon, have grown to miss them!! stratus
It was kinda cool until VMA 02' and seemed like a warm-up for something huge -- the release with a proper marketing campaign. It sucks since then. I wish Axl could be just a fan of his own band for a year to understand how it is from our side. We won't be allowed in or lead for a year, right? You know, the guy must be a fan of current acts and bands like Beatles which won't be releasing new music. Axl isn't a GNR fan. It's his band. He clearly doesn't sit and think 'ok, I should maybe be cool with a small part of those downloading motherfuckers. I've felt that bad before.'Axl is clearly way more cool with DJ Ashba. Nothing against it, but you know... Ex-bandmates came and are now long gone. We are still sticking around with the guy. Read his comment during the chats when he said something about being the last man standing, not bragging, not proud. We (the fans) are so distant, he keeps us this way and that's why it's a shenanigans from our perspective. Axl doesn't understand the difference between GNR die-hard fans and customers -- casual fans. They've losing followers in both. It's really sad. It has gone too far. He might believe we're all crazy and in a way we might be just like him.

FuddMckagan
To an extent, I guess. I find all of the repetitive threads a little old though. As in, all of the attempted Slash vs Axl ones, "What do you think Axl eats for lunch?" ones, and arguing about his hair or his face or some other body part of his. All of the ones about rumours can be fun sometimes.
Trilogy
When I was 18 years old I would have thought it was "cool" and that Axl is such a rebel blah blah blah, but now I am about the same age as Axl and I have a family, little kids and a Engineering Managers job so I have enough excitement and drama in my life and just care about the music.I admire a musician who is always making new music, regularly touring, keeping in touch with his/her fans and getting on stage on time..so Orsys is right I want someone like Slash or just about every other professional band I follow and go out of my way to see in concert...........Axl's act was "cool" back in the early 1990's but now it is just tiresome........Me and the missis are going to see Jeff Beck and Imelda May tonight at the Wang theater in Boston...A little sushi a few beers before then a great concert in a nice theater which will start on time...no BS or drama just a great Saturday night out in my book........nope. I only care the music..which hasn't been so hot lately. all the other stuff, is just stuff to talk about on the forums.+1 Sunny.... rawker, some of us are 40+ and have a G/F,and no kids but are not relegated to that somber rut of a life, some of us are a bit wilder, and enjoy "shenanigans" whether perpetrated by ourselves or someone else, life is too short to go through it gloomy and downtrodden, GNR has always had it's share of "pushing the limits" such as the Reading show, imo the "sit in",refusal to leave the stage and the megaphone were hilarious and was in retaliation to the idiot promoter who practically dared them by publically posting a curfew,When hecould have been much more discrete, Rock and rules is in itself an oxymoron, and what passes for "rock" today bores the fuck out of me,the only rule GNR enforces is not to fkn throw things,Bands are not targets,GNR has always walked on the wild side and fought authority, this appeals to me,I enjoy "Shenanigans" both in my band and in real life, and the music hits me where it matters, straight to the soul!
