Quite possibly the fans expect too much information they have no right to know, and take things too personally, when its not about them at all,but involves other unrelated, unpublicized matters, perhaps the fans (some of them at least) don't like having an icon/idol that does nothing in what they would consider a normal manner, and follows his own convictions and beliefs? In short, maybe the fans expect too much and have only themselves to blame for unrealistic expectatıons

Unrealistic expectations huh?? Did you even read the OP? I will re-cap it just for you :)

"March 6th" The open letter to fans regarding the album release

There is heaps more but I think I have made my point. Fans are sick of being told something, and it never coming to fruition. That is actually worse then total silence, as it gets our hopes up. Do you understand now? I doubt you will.

So you have never been forced to alter plans,or made plans that for one reason or another fell through? You have never had to delay events due to unforseen circumstances? My it must be hard holding up that pesky halo, and be so self righteous that you feel qualified to judge someone you don't even know, that said,it is not out of the realm of possibilities that certain fans expect details and aspects of the business end of things,or personal information they may want, but not need, you don't have to know everthing in order to appreciate and relate to someones music and lyrics.

Of course i have had to alter/cancel plans. But when i do, i have the common decency and courtesy to inform people of those said changes. "Sorry man, i can't make it tonight because of _____". Axl has never done that. Try weasel out of this one bro.

No weaseling needed,I doubt seriously you operate on the same level, with.the same criticisms that are aimed at GNR from every angle on an everyday basis,so your argument really isn't comparable, its not necessary nor needed forGNR to attempt to justify every action to you or anyone else,it would only serve to be disputed, misquoted, misinterpreted, and serve as more fodder for the people that shovel shit and rumors nonstop,if you like the music, that is enough, don't expect GNR to jump when incessantly prodded and provoked.

You are a joke. First you said:

"the band don't owe you anything", i then bought up the fact that it was Axl's own fault for saying thing will happen and then never coming to fruition. Then you said:

"Oh so you have never canceled plans before?" to which i said i have, but always inform the people involved about why the plans changed. Then you said;

I doubt you operate on the same level as Guns N' Roses, to which I am now saying:

WHY IS IT THAT ONLY GUNS N' ROSES NEVER PULL THROUGH ON THEIR PLANS WHEN THOUSANDS OF OTHER BANDS CAN? EVEN WHEN OTHER BANDS CANCEL PLANS, THEY GIVE REASONS.

Answer me that? You said I don't operate on the same level, but what about Metallica, AC/DC, Pearl Jam, NIN etc, bands that are bigger than Guns.

Oh and as for your last line, Guns certainly did JUMP when MSL bought out the fireworks :) You must have been pretty worried and all, being GnR's protector :)

Nope,GNR came packing fireworks as well, much bigger fireworks, and as a debate adversary you are really a disappointment,

The mods might like it if you could stay on topic, and GNR has come through on plans, problem is nobody notices the successes, only amplify the fuckups, when they occur.

I'm staying on topic you joke, I am talking about Axl's relationship with the fans, specifically, my opinion on it. Taken your medicine today have you? HAHAHAHAAH so now you backtrack and say Guns do follow through on plans... Good lord, did you not read the OP. Keep replying please, laughter is the best medicine!

Yes actually I did peruse the op,and I am of the opinion that the fans that expect GNR to bow to their every whim and desire are probably going to be disappointed,I hate being redundant but the real deal is that you buy an album, you get music to listen to,you buy tix to a gig and you get to see live music,I don't really understand the relationship aspect, when band members actually come here they don't receive very nice treatment, and some of the topics are negative and hateful,so its a two way street,ie: when some ass throws objects at the band, and it is not tolerated, the show gets stopped, whose fault is that? Add on that some "fans" won't be satisfied,no matter what the band does,GNR is already headlining RIR,and who knows what else might be in store

I'm very happy that Guns will be attending RIR, but you have to ask yourself, what came first, the shitty treatment of the fans, or the fans treating Axl like shit. I know which one makes more sense. No one should expect Axl to bow down to them, but when Axl says "It is this year" or "March 6th" or "We will be back next summer with a whole bunch of new songs" and it doesn't happen, fans have the right to be pissed off with his antics. Throwing shit on stage is not acceptable, either is making people who paid hard money wait over an hour.

Imo,the show is worth the wait, but I'm not that anal about time and schedules, one of the dates mentioned was tentative and not set in stone, and honestly, how would you feel about people coming to a fan forum, and talking smack about you,or your band? It rolls both ways, and again, just because you like the music a band produces, does not mean you have to like nor approve of the way things are run,and does not imbue you with an ability to call the shots, and if that bothers you to an empirical degree,I would surmise you find a band you can relate to on a level that brings you satisfaction, personally I like the unpredictability, and the chaos that accompanies GNR,and always has :)

Indeed, March 6th was tentative, but Axl did say he would update us on the situation if it does not happen. We did not hear from him about it til after the release.. There are plenty of other examples too. I would much rather Axl say nothing than tell us something and it never coming to fruition.

Understandable totally, but unforseen events can emerge, situations can erupt,in short "shit happens",so you pick up the peices and go on with life, granted GNR can be rather sketchy and unorthodox but that is part of the appeal for me,normal would be beyond boring,it would be like driving while looking in your rearview window,I understand completely what you are saying,we just disagree on what constitutes acceptable practices, what bothers you doesn't really affect me in the same way,two viewpoints,so we can agree to disagree on this and end it amicably :)

I've said this a million times but it would be nice if he did an on camera interview again. It's hard to connect with Axl except when he's performing coz he's so reclusive. That would improve the rel with the fans. He's always interesting and funny and the general public would see this side of him. I can't understand why the most entertaining and interesting person in rock(Axl) refuses to do interviews while every other personality gives a million interviews. It's such a waste while we have to listen to Slash drone on in his millionth interview. I like Slash sometimes but he's not an entertaining or interesting interview these days.

I think Axl's reclusive approach is a strategy. It adds to the mystique. It's a bigger story whenever we hear anything from him. Maybe a good approach, maybe a bad one. That is for each fan to decide whether it is something they can tolerate or is a more vocal and visible celebrity who they want. I agree that Slash is so over exposed these days that his interviews are just repetitive and uninteresting. Still like his album. Listen to it a lot. But not that interested in what he has to say anymore.

I don´t agree, I think he is out of public life for his own will, because he is private. I could be wrong but imo, he doesn´t hide but he doesn´t expose himself either.

Neil Strauss Tweeted that he's been trying to get an interview with Axl. He just did a pretty good one with Howard Stern.

Slash said his side of GNR in his book. Don't see the point of interviewers asking him anything about it, except when the day comes that they talk. They both have Twitter. Maybe that's where it'll happen.

I'd also like to take this time to thank the general, Tommy Stinson, for his recent vague tweets. There's nothing GNR fans appreciate more at times we're starved for news than coy statements. Just awesome dude.

Is the message mixed with his inaudible baseline on CD?

His comments about an "interesting year" may not have anything to do with GN'R. Furthermore, any GN'R related information will be communicated through official channels, as history has proven.

What's troubling is that regardless of which side of the fence you are on as a GNR fan, there's just not much to look forward to. For those that support the current incarnation, the Spring tour has been nixed for whatever reason, Richard's touring this summer, and we're seemingly no closer to hearing the next album from the CD era.

On the other side of things, I think anyone who has a shred of common sense knows a reunion just isn't in the cards. If Axl can't tour the states or release another (already completed) album with, I'm sorry, a bunch of well paid, albeit talented, 'yes men' then I highly doubt Slash and Duff would be able to put up with what has become a routine pattern of an inability to function as a normal band who appreciates their fans for more than 5 minutes.

So, what's there to look forward to? :shrugs:
