xymbalreborn Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 "Sweet Child o' Mine" by Guns N' Roses Full Band Cover by Ann Marie Lindsey, Kalen Willits, Sean "Raven" White and Myron CarlosThis is NOT a note for note cover. It's the collaboration that we were talking about! We all recorded our own parts at different times to the exact same track and put it all together with Sony Vegas. As much fun as it was to do this, I don't know if I ever want to do something like this again. The rendering of the video took literally 5 days. Lots of layering and resetting. All aside, this is something we talked about for a while and seeing that these students will be graduating in a few weeks of this upload, time was against us and we would be beside ourselves if we hadn't done a compilation. Hope you all enjoy!Myron Carlos is endorsed by and uses:SOULTONE CYMBALS: http://www.soultonecymbals.comSILVERFOX DRUMSTICKS: http://www.silverfoxpercussion.comGROVER PRO PERCUSSION: http://www.groverpro.com/home.htmlGIBRALTAR DRUM HARDWARE: http://www.gibraltarhardware.com/Equipment List:Ann Marie (vocals) www.youtube.com/ilikecereal80- Samson vocal microphone- Monster Cables- Vic Firth SIH1 Stereo Isolation Drummers HeadphonesKalen Willits (lead guitar) www.youtube.com/knw000- Orange Tiny Terror- Custom Warmoth Stratocaster- Elixer Strings- Dava Picks- Beringer Europower PMP3000- Horizon Microphone cables - Beringer Condenser Microphones- Boss ME-70 Multi Effects Pedal- Boss GE-7 Equalizer - Amphenol Instrument Cables- Texas Special Single Coil Pick Ups- Seymour Duncan SH-PG1 Pearly Gates Pickup- Gallien Krueger 4X12 closed back guitar cabinet- Celstion Speakers - Graph Tech Acousti-phonic Preamp - Graph Tech Saddle Pickups( American Standard)- Fender American Standard Bridge- Spretzal Locking Tuning pegs. - Levy's Leather Guitar StrapSean "Raven" White (bass) www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100000116637440- Ibanez SR 5 String Bass Guitar- Roland Cube Amp 100w- DR Strings- Monster Cables- Vic Firth SIH1 Stereo Isolation Drummers HeadphonesMyron Carlos (rhythm guitar) www.youtube.com/xymbalreborn- Jackson DKMG Dinky (Black)- Peavey Classic 410E- Orange TT15 Tiny Terror- Zoom G1XN- Elixir 12050 Polyweb Coated Electric Guitar Strings (10-46)- EMG Humbuckers (2)- Monster Cables- Ernie Ball 4037 Black PolyPro Guitar Strap- Jim Dunlop Medium picks (purple)- Vic Firth SIH1 Stereo Isolation Drummers HeadphonesMyron Carlos (drums) www.youtube.com/xymbalrebornDrums:Tama Rockstar DX 1990- 14" Snare- 10" Tom- 12" Tom- 13" Tom- 16" Floor Tom- 22" Bass (2)Pearl Concert Toms- 6"- 8"- 10"- 12"Cymbals:Soultone- 6" M Series Bell- 6" Extreme Splash- 10" Extreme Splash- 12" Extreme China/13" FXO Crash stack- 13" Gospel Hi-hat- 14" Extreme Hi-hat- 16" FXO China- 16" Extreme Crash- 18" Extreme China- 18" Extreme Crash- 22" Extreme RideSticks:SilverFox 1A NylonDrumheads:Remo- Snare: Coated Ambassador top; Clear Diplomat resonant- Bass/Toms: Clear Pinstripe top; Ebony Ambassador resonantEvans- Strata 1000Effects:- LP Black Beauty Cowbell- LP Red Jam BlockHardware:- Gibraltar Hardware Custom Rack (ALL hardware is Gibraltar with the exceptions of the items below)- Tama HT730 Ergo Rider Trio Double Braced Drum Throne- Tama Flexi Glide Nylon Strap PedalsHeadphones:-Vic Firth SIH1 Stereo Isolation Drummers Headphones Quote
Drakestar Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 welll done!!! that was pretty cool...totally can understand the time that must have taken to put together.were you one of the players?they are all talented (obviously)...but I just didn't think the singer was playing full out...she was good...just seems to lack some "power from within" if you know what I mean. She sure sings better than I can though...very cool.kinda gives an inside look at how things are recorded separately and then brought together to form a cohesive end result.thank you for sharing. I'm sure the musicians out there will appreciate the list of equipment used as well. Quote
dizzzzzzy Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 c'mon...you forgot to mention the type of toilet paper you used.... Quote
jekylhyde Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 Good cover!!!Although, all the chick singers sound the same. The ones who sing with that chick voice. Just like her in the video. That's why I really dislike amateur female singers (especially when they sing SCOM)...They sing too clean, pure and bland... But yeah, not a direct insult to the girl in the video. Just to all girls ...But like, I said, good cover!! Keep it up! Quote
xymbalreborn Posted June 18, 2011 Author Posted June 18, 2011 Hey everyone!Sorry it took so long to reply! Yes, I'm the guy playing rhythm guitar and drums. The rest of the musicians are my (former now) students. They always wanted to get together to do a compilation video for youtube and we agreed on Sweet Child. Mind you, I didn't teach them EVERYTHING they know. I just sort of nudged them into a certain direction to help them hone their skills. One of those "plant a seed and see what it becomes" sort of deals. It was a learning process for all of us. We don't have a great setup for recording so we did the best we could. For example, the headphones had only the backtrack playing so we couldn't hear what we sounded like necessarily because those are sound isolation headphones. It was all for fun.The lead guitarist is hoping to get sponsored which explains the long lists of equipment used. Through doing drum covers, I've become endorsed by 5 drum related companies and he was hoping to do the same with some guitar companies. In all, it was purely for fun and the experience doing a compilation. We all tried our best at getting the "perfect take" but I had work and they had classes to worry about, not to mention our own personal lives as well. Thanks for checking it out! Quote
