Hate to reign on everyone's parade, but Duff's earlier interviews post GnR split tell a different story..

Yeah but a lot of time has passed since he quit, the benefit of hindsight and all...

I can understand discrepancies in hindsight, but not major ones like this. A realistic form of hindsight would be Duff saying something like "I certainly had some responsibility in not working with Axl toward the end" or something along those lines. But he clearly said it turned into a dictatorship and he left due to that, but now it's the lawyer's fault?? I don't buy that...

Let's see what Duff writes in his book, where he'll go into more detail about it.

But it's like saying lawyers broke up The Beatles, and to an extent, it's true, but there was more than one reason why.

Entertainment lawyers assume rock stars are idiots when it comes to money and can have influences over their decision making for their own financial gain.

I think Duff never really had all that much of a problem with Axl but pretended to or exaggerated in order to fit in with the "old" Guns position of "Oh ma gawd it was impossible to work with that drama queen dictator".

I acknowledge it's also possible that Duff could be guilty of revisionism (either fuelled by gigging in London with Guns or part of the ever existing tactic of "compliment to engineer a reunion" - think with Duff it might be the former).

We all know Axl and Duff don't have issues. If it is down to lawyers, then why would Axl spit such hateful words about Slash :shrugs:

I always knew that only Izzy and Duff (of all the pre-1993 former members) could ever play again with Axl

but the thing about lawyers...hm... don't know what to think about it other than that Duff mellowed with age

I find nothing in his comments that says the whole band left because of lawyers except maybe that's what happened to him.

To say it was the lawyers fault (in my opinion) was added by the ROCKAAA writer.

Because Slash talks smack and has done for years, just to hype up and publicize his shitty solo career and hilarious guest spots.

That was by far the most pathetic thing I have ever seen relating to Gn'R.

And yet, morons still beg to see a reunion.

It´s not like Fergie would take Axl´s place if there ever will be one. Just sayin´.

The Super Bowl thing needs to be put into perspective...if you were invited to perform at a Super Bowl Halftime, wouldn't you? Think about what it represents and how many legendary artists have performed...I'm not saying it was a good show (it was terrible) but, like, just because he went on stage at an iconic sports event to play his guitar and be able to say, "I played at a Super Bowl"...get over it. I could understand if he were whoring himself out in different ways. Just seems like such a weak argument to me.

It's been like 15 years. Guy's got a family, and kids. Sorry to break it, but that's a lot more important than a band that hasn't been culturally relevant in 20 years.

SCOM got the biggest applause, then Usher came on and the mix sucked. I know when No Doubt and Sting did halftime years back, they recorded the rehearsals and lip synced to it, mostly because it had to go up and come down in a half hour. I think when Bruce, Who, Stones McCartney did their halftime, they started doing the songs live.

Halftime used to really suck until the early 90s.

Eagles was mentioned at doing half-time but BEP won out, but I think with Van Halen having new music coming out, they'll be on the list this year.

Aerosmith has done 2 SB one lip synced and the other live.

It's about time that some people realize any artist that gets a chance to perform at the SB will. And that entertainment reaches way past the rock community.

Back on topic;

Duff will be giving alot of interviews in the near future. It is my guess this will not be the last time he will back pedal on some of his old statements. Like I said before Duff should have been a politician.

Slash is doing far better than Axl at the moment, and he sounds better too.

Yeah

How about looking at some numbers, Star? Slash's solo tour's cool but can even sell out small venues. Too much advertising for a n average product and result.

Not that I´m into comparing, but if Axl did not tour under the name Guns N´ Roses, things would be different.

Slash has consistantly sold out all of his venues check again. Esp. the last 3 legs of the past tour. Also he has sold out the comming UK tour. I think Star's statement meant something else though.

Sure it would, but that's not the case. Whether people like it or not, Guns N' Roses is still the name of the new band. Not that it SHOULD be, it is.

But people in general does not know who Guns N´ Roses of 2011 is, or if it´s really a band and not a flying circus.

Back in 92-93, the rock-magazines were crammed with interviews of the individual BANDMEMBERS where they got to talk freely about GUNS N` ROSES.
