Guest siliconmessiah Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 That said, I hope that Duff & Axl gets together for Rock in Rio this october!
Cosmo Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 Sure it would, but that's not the case. Whether people like it or not, Guns N' Roses is still the name of the new band. Not that it SHOULD be, it is.But people in general does not know who Guns N´ Roses of 2011 is, or if it´s really a band and not a flying circus.Back in 92-93, the rock-magazines were crammed with interviews of the individual BANDMEMBERS where they got to talk freely about GUNS N` ROSES.I completely agree but that doesn't change what's happening now.
Guest NewGNRnOldGNR Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 That's retarded. you think everyone came together, years separate from each other, and “made up” the whole Axl story for no particular reason at all? Not my point at all. Slash and Axl were the two players conflicting most, unsurprisingly Slash was the most critical in the years after in relation to Axl's role in the breakdown of the band - I'm simply pointing out Duff was somewhat obliged to go with that hardline line (sure he probably had a few beefs with Axl himself) as he chose to align himselfwith THAT side of the split.
Guest NewGNRnOldGNR Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 Sure, Duff, Izzy, Slash, Gilby, Matt, Alan Niven and others held this big meeting so they could all get their stories straight that Axl's ego got out of control and became a dictator. And to make people beleive the story they all quit the band or got them selves fired by Axl...I could see that totally happening............Nah. They ALL had beefs with Axl. The point is that perhaps guys like Duff towed that radical position (perpetuated by Slash) in terms of Axl to be seen to be loyal to THAT aspect of old Guns.
Janis Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 This immediately reminded of that Marc canter interview where he said that the bad blood would be eased a bit if Slash and the others stoped talking shit about Axl in the press. He asked Slash but he said he wouldn't do it coz he wanted to appear "cool". Since Duff's reunion with Axl he has been talking positive about Axl and about his(Duff) own responsibilty in the split and now he saying the lawyers were a big part of it. I think that meeting with Axl def gave him more perspective.
saber_ Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 I love how some users' entire existence on this board is dedicated towards reminding everyone how they blame Axl for the dissipation of the old lineup. Let's see- Adler's a crackhead, Izzy is the most flighty person perhaps ever, Gilby is the epitome of douchiness, Slash has gigantic ego, Duff is "Mr. Acquiesce", and yet somehow it's all Axl's fault according to the anti-GNR cupcakes. :eyeroll:
tange Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 (edited) The funniest part of the whole thing is how can you trust these guys. Izzy left for reasons he clearly stated in the press and the Illusions Guns bashed him publicly early and often. Its jilted lover syndrome.....on both sides. I could tell you any number of reasons why my girlfriend and I should breakup, but i don't want to. being a human means partnering up, its not always easy and afterwards you can think of a million reasons why you are glad it ended. Its called coping. Edited May 26, 2011 by tange
Estranged Reality Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 The Super Bowl thing needs to be put into perspective...if you were invited to perform at a Super Bowl Halftime, wouldn't you? Think about what it represents and how many legendary artists have performed...I'm not saying it was a good show (it was terrible) but, like, just because he went on stage at an iconic sports event to play his guitar and be able to say, "I played at a Super Bowl"...get over it. I could understand if he were whoring himself out in different ways. Just seems like such a weak argument to me.ok so do something at all costs no matter how silly it is is cool, gotcha No, I didn't say that.

It's like being in an intense 2-month relationship. It isn't healthy, it's not meant to last long, but it's the single most passionate tryst of your lifetime. It nearly killed you, but you remember it forever. That is the volcanic groove captured on Appetite, and Lies.

I think they made good music in spite of that, though possibly without it they would have broken up sooner.
