The Red Hot Chili Peppers are set to return with their first album in five years this August.

The band announced on its official website Sunday that it will release I'm With You, its tenth studio album, on Aug. 30. The set is produced by Rick Rubin, who is also working on upcoming albums by Metallica and Avett Brothers and most recently helmed Adele's 21.

I'm With You will be the Chilli Peppers' first studio release since 2006's Stadium Arcadium, a double album that sold 2.3 million copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan. It will also be their first since guitarist John Frusciante officially departed the band for a second time, in 2009. He was replaced by Josh Klinghoffer.

The RHCP haven't made a really good album without Frusciante. I'm a bit skeptical on how this one will be, but I'll get it anyway.

Coffee shop has one of my favorites bass lines ever. One Hot Minute and their earlier stuff were just great.

Should be interesting how it turns out, though Frusciante has always been the only thing I liked about the band. I saw them in 2006/7 and they were appalling.

I like everything in RHCP: vocals, bass (flea is one of the best slappers I have ever seen), drums and guitar. I think they will put out something good.

Frusciante's a fuckin legend but they were brilliant even before him. Hillel Slovak was fuckin magic, John just brings a bit more melody. I don't think they've made a single bad album though, i have a particular fondness for Freaky Styley, which is a classic based on Sex Rap alone  I've not really listened to Stadium Arcadium or Californication properly...or By The Way come to that although i've heard all the big tunes off em, just never seem to get round to it. Freaky Styley, Uplift Mofo Party Plan (which i think Lithium reccomended to me, thanks Lith') are fucking brilliant though.

Been quite into RHCP lately actually and largely due to John Frusciante and his solo work, not that it's anything like his RHCP work.

I have Stadium Arcadium and I thought it was pretty damn good, which surprised me for a double album. But, I have absolutely no excitement for this one. I'm not sure if it's because Frusciante left, or if it's been over 5 years since their last one, but I have no interest.

Uplift Mofo Party Plan, Freakey Styley, One Hot Minute. yeah, no

In fact, their two best albums were without Frusciante, the aforementioned Uplift Mofo and Freaky Styley.
