Jesus Christ man You're making this into some grand social statement against authority, it's not about that, and it's not about sucking up to Axl, because I don't give a fuck about that either. I just don't have high enough ideals about a rock show to really care if I'd have to turn a shirt inside out or something, I mean, you get frisked before you even go in the front doors anymore, so I think self respect is kind of out the window after getting groped at the entrance. You have people assuming you're only at the show to harm the band! Are you willing to have people question your integrity and your motives, and invade your personal space just to get into a show? (this is just a hypothetical, I understand security is a valid concern at gigs) You have to make certain concessions to do a lot of things in life, every day you're even at work you're being told what to do by someone, somewhere. To even pay for that ticket you have to give hours of your life to someone else, to make them money, doing what they say. Maybe I'm just not as free a spirit as you, but I really don't see it as a big deal in comparison.

The examples you've chosen are highly unlikely and frankly ridiculous, because it isn't fashion policing that's going on. Security is trying to make the difference between Axl having a hissy fit onstage, ending the show, and possibly causing another notorious Axl riot, not force their ideas of fashion and self-expression on you. It's not Big Brother threatening to throw you in a gulag if you don't do it. And by the way, insinuating that someone else is a "chimp" or that they would suck a dick to get in a show is childish and won't get your point across.

I do see what you're trying to say about going down a path of appeasement to everyone and everything, and changing yourself for the benefits of others. But I think you're just a little too idealist about it, because some battles just aren't worth fighting, and you're not changing your core being over this particular one. In the end I really don't want to sit here and argue about this anymore, so I'll let ya have the last word, but suffice to say I just don't really see it as that big a deal. You're still you no matter what your shirt says or which direction the print on it is facing, and I'd rather have fun night at a gig than walk away over it.

I like how everybody's thinking that it was Axl's march orders. Axl specifically denied ordering ANY t-shirt bans, and was actually so angry about the allegations that, in the end, madison got the foot.

I re-read their posts and none of the three insinuate or state that they think Axl ordered Tshirtsgate. In fact, Sugar wasn't even talking about Tshirtgate per say, but going off on one of his glorious rants about individuality; But yeah like I said, you didn't read what the posters actually said, you read what you wanted to and then used as a tool to someone how make it seem as Axl is being persecuted for Tshirtgate, which he isn't.

I remember at that point wondering why Madison didn't let it go since the GnR camp had spoken on the subject and wondered later if that's why Axl was so hard on her in that post. Wish I could find it, but maybe someone else remembers that as well?
