Dazey
Why throw shit at the band you paid to see? And expect them to keep playing?BAM! Thank you! This thread just feels like it is going in circles. For fuck's sake people. Don't throw shit. AND, "if you see somebody, beside you, throwing something, beat the fucking shit out of them."I get it, Axl shouldn't show up late, and while there is no reason for him to be there late, there's also no need for a bunch of fucktards to throw things.Dude, NOBODY is saying it's cool to throw shit but Axl must know he risks that by being so disrespectful to his fans every fucking show?Disrespectful to fans? He shows the fans respect by going on tour and performing for them. God knows he doesn't need to. Axl's be going on late for 20 years. It's a non-issue because people should expect that from him.In all fairness that doesn't even deserve a response. It's disrespectful to make your audience wait with no good reason end of! I'll admit Axl no showing concerts without advance warning is disrespectful, but if he shows up and puts on a show, no matter how late, I wouldnt be complaining about being "disrespected". Nintari
People who throw shit are fucking idiots. Axl doesn't owe them anything and neither does any other performer. When you buy a ticket it's not a fucking legal contract. Anything can happen in between the time you bought it and the time the performer performs. MB.
Like I said before: in my country we were warned!!!!! They send us an email, that we should expect him to come late and so come by car! While entering the stadium, they told us again. So everybody knew!Still people were throwing stuff! Just for fun I guess. There is no justification for throwing. Defending a bunch of drunk monkeys, cause that what we are talking about, unbelievable!Saying, it's wrong, but he had it coming, what kind of stupid thing is that?????Not defending Axl in any way, him coming late sucks. But those guys are risking to spoil the show for thousands of others!!! What if a bottle hit Axl on the head??? Besides, throwing stuff at rockconcerts is done a lot of times, not only GNR. Seen it a lot. Uncivilized drunk guys, with a remarkable resemblance to Beavis and Butthead, seem to think it's cool. Like a rockconcert stands for let's get serious drunk, let's throw stuff and at the end of the concert, lets fight as well!!!! Uh uh, cool! There is no bigger picture, even when Axl is on time, they will find a reason, or non cause they think it's fun ofcourse.Besides Axl put on a almost 3 hours show, not many bands are doing that, so there is a reward for waiting. But that's not even the point. Throwing stuff is wrong, there is no justification for it, period. Edited August 7, 2011 by MBRose
Guest Len B'stard
To whoever it was pointing out those bands who got pelted with stuffs but didn't come on late, this sorta proves what i was saying that this is what happens, it comes with the territory of being a rock n roll performer. I'm sorry but you can sanitise radio, you can sanitise videos and albums but you can't sanitise and sterilise the people and their freedom to respond to music and people throw stuff at performers, its been going on since the first guy got the idea to get up onstage, its a form of audience response. I'm sorry if you don't agree with that but thats how its been going on since before there was a me or a you or an axl rose, it's the way in which audiences express disapproval along with booing and other such thing. This ain't the fuckin Demolition Man quite yet, society hasn't been totally reprogrammed by arseheads quite yet and i'm sorry but you're gonna take a few thousand people, stick em in a room, sell em alcohol and then leave em waiting for a band for 2 hours, they WILL throw shit, right or wrong doesn't really have anything to do with it, it's not a right or wrong issue, it's a given. In fact, if you stick em in a room and play raccous rabble rousing rock n roll which still makes up for a fair portion of Gunses music at em and expect them to just clap politely or whatever, i'm sorry but it ain't gonna happen.Audiences reactions have always been extreme to rock n roll shows, i mean look at The Stones fans in early gigs who literally rioted even though The Stones weren't late, even though they did the fuckin gig they were supposed to and left, the seats still got ripped out, the stage still got trashed, thats the whole fucking point, its rock n roll, its exciting, it rouses and moves people and all the mincey little librarians pissing and moaning about that shit can't say what they like.Rock n Roll is getting old as an art form, its getting intellectualised and text-book-ized and studied and pored over but the live shows are still live shows and they'll always be the living breathing heart and soul of rock n roll and they have ALWAYS been rowdy. You can mark this in stone too, long after me and you and Axl Rose are dead and buried people will still respond this way at rock n roll shows or whatever given performance of this sort of art in front of a mass audience, it's been happening since before this shit and it'll be happening long after and there's nothing you can do about it and as a rock n roll performer you can either make the choice to do this job or not do it or do what Axl does and do it and complain still or..y'know, it doesn't matter WHAT you do, this will keep happening, late or no late, some nights, some places, some crowds, you're gonna get this now you can either pack up your tents like a little mincer and toodle on home or you can turn around and go "hang on...this is my stage, i'm performing here tonight, nobody fuckin bullies me off my stage with a couple of bottles" and fucking go for it and lay into your songs like a real trooper and give the crowd what for and play as best as you can that night. But whatever you do, you can't change crowd reaction, you can start/assemble a mob, you can put an idea in their head but you can't control em. And well if you're gonna purposely wind em up by turning up 2 hours late, well then you're gonna get what you're gonna get. Basically what you guys seem to be suggesting is that no response but approval is allowed well i'm sorry but some things ain't up to you, as much as you'd want em to be. Cosmo
Axl doesn't owe them anything and neither does any other performer. When you buy a ticket it's not a fucking legal contract. actually it is.Yes. Technically, if people buy a ticket for a certain concert starting a certain time, that's what they must get. If not, it's false adversiment and/or disrespect towrds the consumers. I don't really know what's so hard in getting on stage in time...

When you buy a ticket it's not a fucking legal contract. actually it is.Actually...it's not. Look at the back of your ticket. The show can be canceled for a plethora of reasons. It's not a binding legal document whereby the purchaser can sue for the event not happening. If that were the case, Axl would be bankrupt by now due to class action lawsuits. packersnroses
The back of all my concert tickets say "date and time subject to change".If Axl no-shows, you get a refund. If you don't, then it becomes a legal problem with whoever you bought the ticket from. Edited August 7, 2011 by packersnroses

whirlsquirlgirl
To think this all started because of Liberace! In a music appreciation class I learned that people BEHAVED at shows. Then Liberace paid some girls to cry and scream during his concert. It caught on. Now the whole idea is dangerous fun. Drunk fights, moan pits, to each his own. But quit hitting ME or groping ME or throwing full beer cups at the band because I'm getting hit with your spray, and your spit. I go to see and hear the band, whatever band. Why did you buy a ticket if your back is going to be toward the stage most the time?People who screw around like THAT are pathetic wastes of space. Mosh if you want just don't involve EVERYONE, please.

whirlsquirlgirl
Sorry. MOSH pits. I'm on my droid and the spell check defaults to Noah or moan. But two people behind me were in each others clothes. They were probably moaning. Then the MOSH pit hit and those two started groping me! They were strangers to me!

You're at a rock concert surrounded by a bunch of really aggressive drunk/stoned men. It goes with the territory...sad as it is.
