How much longer can Axl continue on for without releasing CD II? I really hope this little jaunt in October is the end of CD and the beginning of CD II.

If we go by the lyrics in "Sorry", maybe since so many of us think he should release CD2, it only entices Axl not to want to put it out. I'm serious.

Forever if he wants.

And a day?

Yeah, but not as long as David Blaine can hold his breath

Let's let rio be the guide to see if a new albums on the way. And even then wed have a ways to go. You guys are grasping too firmly onto a few spoken statements. "They're working on new songs". Yeah, they have been for nearly two decades now. What makes now any different? If they were really serious about putting an album out this year or next, richard wouldn't be playing with thin lizzy and bumble wouldn't be touring his shit. I realize that "guns are their priority", but if we were close to crunch time, why take on interfering side projects? And even if they do play some new nu songs at rio, remember they first played chinese democracy in 2001, a good seven years before the album actually came out.

Don't misconstrue what I'm saying, like I know a select few of you baffling bafoons will do. Not saying it won't go down, or that I don't want it to. But don't hold your breath for too long kiddies.

Let's not let "RIR" be a guide, and its great the guys have time during breaks to do their own things.

The word is Buffoon, and I believe band members more than you.Who are you calling junior? I'm over twice your age.You seriously need to work on spelling.I will see GNR this year and you'll still be here bitching.

Well he can prolly tour afd/cd for as long as he wants and still sell tickets but, more and more , of the hardcore fans will continue to drop like flys as the silence and the no album and same setlist goes on and on.

Im to the point were, i dont care. If he puts out a new record fine. Ill buy it and hope its great. But sitting round frantically waiting for Axl Rose to do anything is a fucking lost cause.

Let's put it this way...I wouldn't call someone crazy if they said they thought that CD is the last GN'R album.

I don't think he can for a life.

Axl's popularity as runned out during the years...hardly anyone even knows what he's doing these days

Hardly anyone knows him these days!

This post shows why most people on here do not take you seriously.

No matter how strongly you believe something....no matter how certain you are that your opinion is fact and correct....it doesn't make it true. And it doesn't make your opinion any more valid or closer to the truth than anybody else's.

Then you wrap it up by saying people who disagree with you are baffling bafoons? People that don't have facts to back up their viewpoints will resort to name calling.

A lot of what you said in this posts lies close to the truth.

But Axl has released one album in the last 15 years and you are still here. So does that mean you are willing to wait 15 more years?

So long as venues sell out Axl can operate without a new album.

It’s only been nearly three years since the release of “Chinese Democracy” therefore we are not at the “how much longer” stage yet.

People of my caliber? What an arrogant prick you must be in real life.

But Oooohhh!!! A mod told you how well you were doing. That's awesome. Maybe next Slash will send you a PM.

Sorry pal. If you don't like my posts then don't respond to them. I welcome debates with people who disagree with me. Apparently you write off people with opposing views by calling them names. Interesting. Well if the definition of a bafoon is somebody that disagrees with all your "facts" then u clearly don't know what a bafoon actually is.

So continue crying about everything Axl does. Norte and a Mod will keep telling u how awesome you are. And I will continue getting a kick from getting you riled up.

I don't really think it matters for a couple of reasons.

First, the general populace already had a peak at this new iteration of GNR and for the most part they passed. It's unfortunate because I think Chinese Democracy was a great album, but for most, it didn't live up to the hype or expectations. Releasing a second album isn't likely going to give the average fan or outsider any reason to return unless it's mindblowingly amazing. GNR would have to release a Sweet Child O' Mine, Welcome to the Jungle, November Rain caliber song to get non-fans interested and excited.

Second, if the original band were to ever regroup it would negate any delays between album releases. There will always be an appetite for the band that rose to fame in the late 80s. I'm not one to advocate that this needs to happen, but it is an obvious avenue to relevance if Axl and his former bandmates still cared to be one of the biggest bands in the world again.

The only people Axl may lose by not releasing new material in a reasonable time frame are those who frequent forums and the like. But then again, if you've stuck around this long, you're likely not going anywhere.

So no, GNR can do as they please and it will have little or no affect on album sales, ticket sales, or forum posts.

Cheers,

Andrew

Yeah, good post. I wanna hear some new shit from axl, and so does anybody else here. It's all gaga and beiber now whatever the fuck that shit is. Axl only hangs on to his legendary status by doing nothing new. I'm won over already, but gnr getting new fans and keeping the old, almost impossible. Get the new music out axl, or don't. All your work for nobody to hear? makes me sad. The only thing we have to fear is...

If he wants to make Guns N´ Roses a nostalgia act, he could continue with the AFD/CD tour for another round.

The hardcore fanbase will probably have our saying about it, and it will go against his promise of taking hold of the GNR-legacy to keep it alive and release new music.

With the casual fanbase it´s a different story. He could be 70 and belt out OMFG Jungle with the 2006-2010 setlist and some people like would still think it´s ok.

I think we will see CD 2 released this fall. That would be the best thing to do for this band, that actually is yet to release a record.

Really, he can go on without ever releasing an album, the only repercussion would be from the record label, but I'm sure he has an abundance of funds that he could use to buy up what is left on his contract. However, his fanbase will continue to dwindle if he decides to venture that path.

I don't know but I sure hope Ron and Fortus leave if and when Axl makes it clear that he has no intention of putting out any new music.

They are wasting their time with him, especially Ron ( Fortus seems to be ok with being a tour and session guitarist ).

It's a hard question to answer. GNR made such great music and left such a mark, that people are constantly discovering them as new fans, rediscovering them as old fans or old haters of the band, and then you have the fans who have not seen them live but want to, and eventually will.

But for the dedicated fans, the interest is waning. Still though, as long as Axl can still sing and perform as a high level, the band will probably always have an audience in a live setting.

As far as music goes, Axl needs to release a really good, easy to digest album, that can connect all of these people together. If he comes out with another CD, then he is going to fail. People aren't ready to digest that material, just like people might not have been able to digest the Illusion albums if they had come before Appetite. So Axl needs an Appetite type album to bring everyone up to speed and on his side, and then he can bring out these deep monster albums like CD.

The CD expectations are out of the way now. CD was overproduced, over tinkered with, and sounded awkward. The demos were better than the tracks on the album.

He needs to come out with a hard rocking energetic album, that's freshly written and recorded to fit into these times. The world wants the Axl aggressiveness and intensity, musically, lyrically, and especially vocally. But most importantly, he's got to promote it. And he's also got to have some hit singles. I think all of these things are possible to do, if he's willing to do it.

I think Axl can keep on touring forever. (I mean, look at Deep Purple) For him to enjoy popularity again though, he'd have to learn to behave more nicely and openly, and then either create music that most people would like him to do, or pull off a reunion.

One of the better topics presented recently, but perhaps needs refinement. Continue what exactly?

I'm no psychologist, but it would seem to me that Axl isn't the type to cease touring or creating new music. Once there is an agreement contractually I believe we will see another release. I personally just can't see Axl resting on any laurels and I think the best is certainly yet to come. The strive for excellence is too great.

Cheers.
