Axl catches a lot of hell from the uninformed types that he spent 15 years working on 15 songs. Would the media have been kinder had Axl come out with like a double or triple album with like 30-35 songs all at once?

that would essentially be three and half albums. spread over 15 years that's not bad output.

Would it have generated more interest in the U.S. for the album?

i don't think so. the gnr problem is lack of ativity and publicity.

The sad story is that gnr are touring some places they haven't toured since 2007 , and the general public are as much aware of who was in the band back then as they are now.

Even the release of an album during that time resulted in very little if any public awareness of gnr whatsoever.

It sucks to be a fan and know this, however to be someone in the actual band during this time (apart from Axl of course) surely must feel that time stands still when you"re not on stage (which is the only time when people can see that that person must be in gnr) and must feel make some members feel like. shit.

And rightly so, there not all just session musicians (cue the cupcakes) and 2 years with THIS band is more than enough time to put together a plan to harness some type of fucking exposure.

No wonder 95% of the band go off on their solo stuff when there's no tour cause touring seems to be the sole focus of this band, which is fine unless it starts running low on momentum and there's no real excitement appeal as the whole tour never really climax"s

Will Rio be different or another wasted opportunity?

They didn't just do those 15 songs, by all accounts from almost everyone involved, including Axl himself, there are many more songs recorded, so...in theory the record company have effectively paid for the next album or two (assuming they still plan on releasing the other songs...)

That's why one way or another, even if it's 20 years from now, we'll be hearing those songs somehow.

I think its well established that they did more than those 15 songs. I was just thinking out loud about how the release could have gone down.

It would've generated more interest in the US if it had been promoted properly. Whether it had 5, 10, 15, 20 or 35 songs on it.

The media hates Axl because Axl won't do what they want. It may shock some people who don't know this but, the kind of press you get greatly depends on how you treat the people responsible for said press. If you shit on them or don't play by their rules, they will tear you down.

Yeah, the media is still a "good old boys" club, and they tend to be negative toward anyone who refuses to play by their rules.

Not really. They'd already chosen their narrative, so they would have made the facts fit the narrative they wanted to tell, no matter what.

That's how journalism works.
