Do you think it's a mistake to try a third arena tour of the US without a new album?

There is no new album out. Chinese Democracy will have been out 3 years less a month by the time this US Tour starts. They need to release CD II if they really want to do this right. Otherwise they'll be looking at half empty arenas again.

CD has not been toured in the us yet. It is the last place they need to perform before doing other things. I am glad they are playing the US now.

A new album would be great however we cannot expect it everytime. We sit here and look for news everyday, a rock band does not have daily news on everything.

If and when they release a new album I hope it is done correctly from the record company and the band, the management and of course the fans are happy

:rofl-lol:

They played lots of songs off CD back on the 06 US Chinese Democracy Tour. Even on the 02 US Chinese Democracy they were playing CD, The Blues and Madagascar every night. The album doesn't really warrant a third tour almost 3 years after it came out. It did tank in the US after all. I just think they are making a huge mistake if they don't use this US Tour as a launching pad for CD II.

This US tour is probably part of the settlement between Axl and Azoff. I think it's highly probable there's some major promotional agreement in there. New album/material or not, I'm sure it's in both GN'R and Azoff's interest that as much people as possible attend the concerts.

I think they will fill venues just because they are Guns n Roses. So people will come to see them. And based off of how the last tour went, performance wise, it's going to kick ass. But they do need to promote it. So I expect some normal Axl controversy, someone getting punched out, a riot, or something interesting like that. Also, if Axl starts to open his mouth and rant, and say some classic shit, he might get promotion out of that as well. It's a volatile time right now, and Axl's the kind of kick ass leader people want to hear from, or would get a kick out of hearing. Could have the makings of a classic tour if there's the right controversy. Then they'll sell plenty of CD copies. Then they need to release a third album. So yeah, I see lots of potential.

It wouldn't be a mistake, per se, but without a new record, I think it would limit the number of large venues they could play in the States.

With a new record (at least announced), that would up the attendance.

Just my 2 cent speculation.

I've seen this tour twice, and will see it a third time if it comes through my area.

Guns is right. In my two shows, we didn't get to hear Catcher, TWAT, Prostitute or This I Love. So I would go and if I heard 3-4 new songs that weren't played last time I saw them - I'd be thrilled.

But let's not kid ourselves. The best thing GnR could do is to debut a couple new songs. When I saw them in 2002, they debuted Chinese, Blues, Madagascar and I think Rhiad. If there is a new album scheduled for the next year, then they MOST definitely should play a couple new songs on this tour.

I'm not sure how much a new record would help because most will go just to hear WTTJ and SCOM. Sad, but true.

A well promoted new album, with quality material would change that I think.

Chinese Democracy has a lot of good songs, but too few (in the US) are aware I'm afraid.

I don't see it as a mistake in any way really, the last time GNR toured the States was 2006 and that was before we had a real album. Since then, GNR has gotten a better reputation I think as a live band and generally people are thinking of them again since Chinese Democracy was released I would think, so it would make at least some sense. Most casual people will go to hear of course the AFD stuff, so I say he can sell quite a few tickets off of that. However the real fans in the US have been waiting for another tour for a long time, so I think the attendance will not suffer as bad overall. However would a new album help the ticket sales and press for the tour, yes. But I think GNR just wants the opportunity to play in the US after the release of the album so they can finally do things right. But honestly this is last thing they can get out of Chinese Democracy I think with the exception of the Better video if it even exists beyond 30 seconds. After the US tour I think they will need something new because they've milked Chinese Democracy for everything they could get out of it by that point. The only real question is where they will try to go, certain places just won't fill up honestly. As much as it pains me to say, For Example: My state of Kentucky is unlikely to get a date because the tickets probably wouldn't sell as much as 5 different dates in New York.

Has the Miami show even been confirmed?

Not through "official" channels.

Seems like a sure bet though since this radio station is arranging a contest to win tickets. They also announced the ticket sales opening day on ticketmaster.com.

It's unbelievably retarded that Axl's been touring the same material for over 10 years, yet I'm happy for the US folks who have not seen the fantastic current line up in action..

I just wish the circumstances were different and I wish I believed after this SA/US tour GNR have a future

Yo Axl, prove me wrong you dick

Absoluly not, there is an album out now. With the right promotion they could do very well as the worldwide reviews have been great

Lol.

They had a disastrous tour in 2002, 2006 dates were of mixed capacity and Chinese Democracy did not do that well in the US. Couple this with the ailing economy(which wasn't there in 2006) and you have a recipe for more half filled arenas.....

And there's the matter of the late start times. I just don't want to see the plug get pulled on this tour due to poor ticket sales and possible riots.

Has the Miami show even been confirmed?

Guns isn't in the habit of confirming things. Ticketmaster putting something on sale is as legit as it gets though.

I dont think so at all. If it makes fans happy, (like myself) then do it. There is nothing like getting ready and going to see a bad ass rock show. Also the band loves to play music with each other. And they have to get paid and live their lives. They dont have time, nor care to see what the critics think. I bet everyone of us would love to live our dream job and get paid lots of money doing it.
