Cosmo
According to IG, a well known Brazilian news website, on an article about the increase of artist's pay by 200%, he mentioned of every art its present in this Rock in Rio line-up, Axl Rose was the one who insisted the most to have a spot on the festival. Paulo Fellin, executive producer of the Rock in Rio music festival, explaining how hard it is to advertise the festival before any confirmed attraction and the importance the Rock in Rio brand has on drawing attention from well known artists, says "I even came to receive an e-mail by Axl Rose's direct manager, that, along with him, stated his desire to play at the festival. He was the one who insisted the most to be present."Source: IG (portuguese)We can say Axl's truly fond of the festival, hope he's got something special for this, as he surely seems eager to play in Rio!! seely
Axl likes playing it every 10 years it seems.Because they only do the festival every 10 years(1985, then 1991, 2001, 2011)Rio Lisbon doesn't count, but even if you do want to count it they played it in 2006 and were meant to play in 2004 Edited September 20, 2011 by seely

rhb
Guns were one of the bands that were invited because of the public claim to RiR organizers and votation on the internet. Medina told that on a interview a long time ago. IG is a free internet server, not the most reliable here in Brazil.
