I hate to be known or seen as an Axl suck up, but.... I did not see the RiR 2011 concert as an embarrassment or failure. I just saw it as a regular GnR show. Axl wasn't as bad as people say, specially live. I actually thought he was in a good mood for 90% of the concert, foolin' around, joking, smiling, much, much more communicative than when I saw him last year where the only words I heard from him were 'Rio!' and 'Good Night!'... People just put too much expectation on this because of their past with RiR, ignoring the obvious clues that warned us there weren't gonna have new songs. They even supported the Estranged campaign... Slash with Black Eyed Peas wasn't right, not because of 'selling out' but because of his attempt to adapt his style to Black Eyed Peas style, when he is clearly the one who should be followed, plus, listening to people say Fergie sang it better than Axl, that hurt.

Axl did a whole set and, well, we saw and heard it. Slash only played for about a minute that I saw and didn't mess up. What is there to compare about the two? Because he played with Fergie? If Axl showed up with Elton John and did Circle of Life or something for a minute spot at the Super Bowl I wouldn't be mad at him for it. Or sang a few lines to November Rain while Billy Joel played the piano--that might be more comparable. Maybe the sparkling top hat is what people have a problem with?

Fergie sounded horrible singing that song. But that had nothing to do with Slash. And I don't like the Black Eyed Peas kind of music, but I skimmed a bit of the show and I thought they ok doing for what they do and she was ok in her own element.

Let me get this straight - Slash playing with a band you don't like when you dislike him anyway is more embarrassing than the guy you actually like totally sucking in front of tens of millions? That's just closed minded and sad.

I think I change my mind... the fact I care much more about other people's opinion of Axl and Co. makes RiR 2011 a much more embarrassing performance for me... Hearing my friends ask if I actually enjoyed the show, saying Axl is fat, Axl has no voice, etc... that makes me really sad...

Axl's was more embarrassing. He could not even sing, he kept forgetting lyrics, he could not catch his breath, he had to stop and consult with the housekeeper and to top it off that damn yellow coat. Most rockstars just go out there and get wet not to many would chose to look like tweetie. Nothing Slash has done comes close.

Why on earth do people complain about RIR... Just thank Axl that he performed at all, under this conditions! Besides that, his performance grows as the tour progresses. The first show of a Guns tour will never be the best one.

And I don't care what he's wearing, even if he puts on a garbage bag!

Prob. Rio, just from all the comments about the raincoat and weight gain. The performance issue wasn't one of their greatest, but just the fact they did Estranged for the first time in ages and did it well made up for it. It was a hit and miss show, but Axl & co. got down to business. Granted, You Tube didn't help matters but it didn't look like people were leaving in droves. I can't go by audio mix on the internet compared to what people were hearing at the show. If they thought it blew, then that's a different story.

Dave Navarro playing in Mariah's video was the all time whore move because A: it was a Def Leppard cover, B: he didn't play guitar on the recording, and C: at least Fergie can pull off singing a rock song.

Slash was not the problem at the Super Bowl. His playing was fine, it was Fergie who was shit. I vote Axl, as much of the performance was a disaster. Well, perhaps not as bad as some say (it was musically good and upon re-watching some of the show I'd say Axl sounds better than a few of the 2002 shows), but it's still pretty bad.

Axl had an off night and i enjoyed it.. sure it wasn't anywhere near his best but I can let it slide, if i'd been waiting for hours in the cold and years to see the band i'd probably be a little pissed but understand they gave it everything they had on the night. Watching fergie wave her ass about destroying a classic song on prime time tv with a glittering tophat bedazzling my eyes is somehow more offensive.
