Does it worry you that Oh My God is what GN’R comes up with as a "new addition"?

One supposed new song (Going Down) and a title from 1999 are our “additions” to the rotatable Tour setlist.

Realistically how much has Oh My God changed since 2001? We could easily distinguish from the rehearsal video, despite the “radical rework”; it was Oh My God they were playing.

Does it concern you that with three or four albums allegedly in existence, years on from the Chinese Democracy sessions, Oh My God is the best Axl and co. will give in terms of Chinese “rarities”?

Where’s Atlas Shrugged and The General?

GnR isn't ready to release a new album yet, so they're not going to play new songs.

They “weren’t ready” to release an album in 2001 and 2002 but played new songs.

maybe that worked against axl, as shitty performances are circulated on youtube for years. gotta make it hard to sell recordings of those songs when people can hear how bad they suck beforehand.

CD was already announced back then, and the plan WAS to release it.

We don't even have a new album name yet.

More than just that, I don't GN'R anticipated the live versions would spread like wildfire like they did through the file sharing programs of the day.

They can play complete new songs without the completion of an album. Traditionally they’ve presented new songs live without the actual CD in the public domain.

I know they CAN play new songs without an album. But they don't have a new album, and they don't want to play new songs from an album that isn't even announced yet.

Its a double-edged thing,

I can really understand a perfectionist mind that doesn't want fan-shot youtube crap to be the world premiere of a new song that had lots of work put into it.

though, axl and co are also probably well aware of what kind of a predicament they are in vs. getting a new album released. so they should just F it and play new stuff. to hell with the consequences.

though I am biased. Because I want to hear the stuff from 1999-2002 that I haven't heard yet.

Oh My God is awesome, so, yeah.

You , and a couple of others, seem to miss the point. Oh My God is great, but where are the other great songs that aren’t merely “demos” in the eyes of Axl?

I mean in the chats Axl bragged about Oh My God as a bit of fun in comparison with other efforts.

How do you know? Axl should be itching to play such songs as a signal of intent.

Well it's not certain yet that this is making a major return to their live sets, but if it is, well it's good they want to try something different, and I'd rather they pull out this song then something old because it is a little more relevant to the 'current' band. There's no new release on the horizon just yet so if they pull this out and that "Going Down" song, then it's a good indication they're looking to the future rather than just picking a new old song.

REworking a song that was released a decade ago? Are you people for real?

Typically something like this would be released as a B-side of a single.

Only in the world of GnR where we are all so desporate for new music, would people get excited about rereleasing an old song.

What's next on the wishlist? Instead of 12 new songs on the next album, we want Crash Diet, Just Another Sunday, OMG, and the other couple ones I can't remember the names too. Maybe rework and gives us new versions of Think About You and Out To Get Me. Do 2-3 covers of other people's songs. And then fill out the album with 3-4 actual new songs.

Give it up man. It's exactly how the forum members in this topic told you:

1. It is still the Chinese Democracy tour.

2. There is no new album announced yet.

3. There is no new album title yet.

4. There are no new plans for an album announced yet.

5. In the past when new songs were introduced live, the plans for the new album these would be included were already announced.

6. To answer your last question: because Axl doesn't need the extra pressure of an announced album (he already stated once that ride was a nightmare), because he has more than enough pressure from getting this current tour to a good end.

So I think it's safe to say we can close this topic now.
