Used To Love Me Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 Wow. Are you meaning to tell me that....people......age?Yes they do, but if a person puts in even minimal effort, they age gracefully.Axl looks terrible. How are you looking dude?like a million bucks.Dude looks fine to me. There are bad pictures, but for the most part it's nothing major. He's not in the public eye enough for people to get used to gradual changes is all."Supporter." - LOL

My bad, I just had to add that. I hope as the tour goes on he can get in better shape. I think 10 pounds will do.
SunnyDRE Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 Wow. Are you meaning to tell me that....people......age?Yes they do, but if a person puts in even minimal effort, they age gracefully.Axl looks terrible.Wtf are you talking about? Axl looks great for almost 50. Have you seen him with his hat and glasses off?Seen the pictures and concerts posted here. He looks terrible...Exactly- huge difference between aging and bloating/looking like shit. Off the top of my head- Springsteen (60ish), Bon Jovi (50ish), Bono (50ish), McCartney (60's) have aged, yet are fit and look 'good'. Jagger/Plant have aged and the wear shows, yet they don't have 6 chins. Tyler-kinda wierd but he's fit (surgery on face). Jani Lane (RIP) looked like shit, Vince Neil looks like shit, Axl ditto. Dude needs to get it together.Yep. No one wants to say it, but we are all thinking......Fat Elvis.

Elvis was bloated and on drugs - Axl is, at the most, a few pounds overweight. Back in the day he was skinny, as in below average, now he's right around where people his age tend to be. What's the big deal?
Kosonen Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 Think about this place 10 years ago. I would come now from the future and tell everyone.....Axl has lost hes braids! Long hair back! botox dissapeared, eye browns back, wearing leather jackets and stuff.....still a bit over weighted though. Oh!!! and he sounded fucking great in 2009-2010 tour, mickey mouse gone, rasp rasp rasp, released the damn CD whatever somewhere between too. People has always complained about axls looks last 15 years, including the press.

Most making comments about that subject probably won't broach the subject in other threads; rather focusing on other things they like or dislike about the performance and/or Axl.

Sonny Largo Posted October 5, 2011 Posted October 5, 2011 Yep. No one wants to say it, but we are all thinking......Fat Elvis.he does remind me of Elvis post-1973. not so much in his weight, though. and i don't think he's as completely fucked up on drugs as Elvis was. he's just as insulated, though. there are lots of corollaries, actually. and all of them are sad as fuck.

Sonny Largo Posted October 5, 2011 Posted October 5, 2011 Elvis Presley is the only rock star that gets a total pass in my eyes. for all his fuckups and his foibles and his problems and his quirks and his insanities, he gets a total pass. why? because he was the first rock star. he couldn't look to anyone and say, "oh, i better be careful, i don't wanna end up like that."
bigcountry Posted October 5, 2011 Posted October 5, 2011 (edited) All that list does is put things in propective. Everyone saying Axl looks old and fat. To me he is not fat but does look his age in the face. But when I look at photos of me from when I was 16-22 I pretty much looked the same then I take a picture that is current at my age of 37 and I am much heavier looking in the face and belt line but only weigh about 40lbs more but it is pretty even weight gain other than my gut and face. I weigh right at 250lbs and when I was around 18 I wieghed 210lbs but I was not fully filled out yet.II am still very active with turkey hunting and deer hunting. During spring Turkey season I may walk 5 miles in a day and that isn't flat land it is also very large hills and can be hard on me at times but other days I handle it very well. It's not that I am out of shape to bad to me doing it is just getting older, went I was in my late teens and to about 30 it was no problem and in my late 20's I weighed in the 290lb range but even at a lighter weight is it harder now. I have never done anything extra to prep for this jsut go out there and get after it.Getting old effects everyone different but to expect someone to look the same after 25 years it just not relistic and the slide show in the link just shows that. There are alot less people that age and still look near the same than get bigger.I don't see anyone saying that Slash is fat but if you compare him to 87-93 Slash he is much heavier and looks older. Duff on the other hand looks older in the face but his body is not changed much other than being more toned. I could go on but see no need. Edited October 5, 2011 by bigcountry
dalsh327 Posted October 5, 2011 Posted October 5, 2011 They should've ruled out everyone over 60. They're supposed to look older. Ryan O'Neal looks like Shatner's twin. And you can't blame booze or drugs on crows feet, if someone didn't get botox and spends time out in the sun, they're going to age fast. Some of the people that become vegans seem to look older. And some of those people are out of entertainment altogether. Bardot retired 40 years ago. That's why Bettie Page didn't do public appearances. They didn't put many "hit the fucking wall" photos up.
Changes Posted October 5, 2011 Posted October 5, 2011 Everyone saying they don't care one bit about how Axl looks, only how he sounds: this is why looks matter! Do you realize there has been at least 2 articles about this on major news sites since the show on Sunday? Do you realize Axl is the first person in this slide show with a brand new photo of him? This suggests he was actually the reason they came up with the article! They saw him and thought "WTF?!", and I get that. Do you think Americans are going to read this and then buy concert tickets? No, they will go "damn, he is washed up!" and maybe even re-think if they were open to going. It's not only about the looks, it's what the looks represent and what kind of hints it gives as to what a show would be like. He needed to work on his appearance to make a good comeback. People in America will go see the shows because of Axl and only Axl. Do you think they are as tempted when he is unrecognizable and looks anything but rock n roll? If it's only a strange, old, puffy man up there? He can not sing It's So Easy and many of the other AFD songs with any credibility right now and I think the general public sees that more than the hardcores.Everybody looks different with age, but it is very money related. If you are working class and works in a factory you are almost bound to look unattractive at 50. If you are a business man or something like that, you have a good chance of being in good shape. If you have millions of dollars and fame (partly because of your looks), you are more likely to age like Tom Cruise! Axl is perfectly capable of looking like he did in 2006 - older, not as pretty, but handsome and respectable and with style. He has just completely let himself go now. Even if he has some sort of condition which causes his weight; add the clothes, the terrible mustache which makes it all worse (anybody would look older and fatter in it), the ill-fitting red bandana, the hair... No damage control whatsoever. It is obvious he does not care and it's a shame. I really want him to succeed and do good, I want to be proud of being a GN'R fan, and this is just making the odds of that worse and it's a damn shame.
tange Posted October 5, 2011 Posted October 5, 2011 wow that article is shit. all of those people or in their mid to late fifties. newsflash folks thats usually when you start to look old. it sucks but its life.
