Towelie
All the fatist comments directed at Axl are well below the belt. He looks like any other normal man approaching his fifties. I like GNR because of the music not because of how Axl Rose looks. If his waistline is that important to you, you're either a very shallow person or in the closet about your hidden homosexuality. Stro
The "you're a homo" route probably isn't the best to take if you're going for level headed rational discussion. He isn't fat. He's in better shape than he was at the start of the 09 tour. He's not the Axl of 1991. In 2006 when he was fit and in shape, he was significantly thicker than he was in the 90s. Dude can't stay a bean pole forever. Out of shape, sure. Fat? Come on, son.
Cosmo
I completely agree. While I think Axl should dedicate himself a lot more to being physically prepared for the tour, it is only his voice to get a lot better. The media is kinda cruel to him regarding his physical shape...
Changes
I just think you are fooling yourself thinking image doesn't matter. Do you think leather pants are the most comfy to wear? Do you think tons of jewelry is part of a good performance? Catcher gear? Do you think really long hair is practical? It's always been a package. And a lot of the music demands a certain attitude. Of course it's harder to keep your weight as you get older, but I dislike the fact that Axl seems to have let himself go completely. He has every chance to look great, and a lot of people in their 50's look great, although different from in their 30's. I think it just takes away something from the whole experience and gives him an unnecessary bad start for this. It's like going to a job interview - all of you would try and look your best because it appeals to people.
SoulMonster
Media has completely raped people's understanding of fatness. Nowadays you need to be an anorexic clown to be considered healthy looking.Yeah, Axl sucked, but I can see he still tried his best (until things went badly with NR).One bad concert. It was the most important for the next 10 years, and maybe their most important concert ever. And while it would be nice to see the whole world love this band, it's still not important to me.What's important is that he's still out there and will be kicking ass as the tour will progress.Indeed

SoulMonster
Am i the only person who thought he didnt look fat I thought he looked ok at rirI don't think he was fat. He looked identical to 2010. A normal build for a 48-year-old. Not lean and not fat. Average looking. It the way the human body ages.

Being fat, you can change. "Normal people" have jobs they go to everyday for 8 or so hours, then they have chores and work around the house to do so working out is a lot harder to find time for. When you're someone like Axl Rose, who has a shit ton of money and doesn't go out and promote himself, do shows very often, etc. You would think he would have time to work out a bit. I'm pretty convinced he just lazes around his house all day, every day, until he has to prepare to go to court or whatever. That's very, very, justified criticism.EDIT: Closet homosexuality lol. Give me a break. When you get older your metabolism slows down, you're beginning to develop joint problems and back problems. All these things make it a lot harder for someone to lose weight. Someone in their 20s or 30s losing weight is a hell of a lot easier than someone in their 50s.

They think it's greedy and selfish and a restraint on the health system. Truth is people who give off aren't criticising people for these reasons but purely cosmetic ones. Being big isn't being unhealthy. I'm willing to bet that Axl is healthier than a lot of "thin" people who don't look after themselves. Also everyone's metabolism is different. Some people can eat as much as they like, not exercise and appear thinner than those who eat a lot a do exercise.

A lot of times people associate overweight people to unhealthiness and/or sloth... Sometimes this is prejudice, it's just unfair. Tell me who's healthier? Scott Weiland or Axl? Duff or Axl? Scott Weiland or Slash? Some people have trouble staying in shape, sometimes it takes a lot more sacrifice and discipline for one than for another person to stay fit... Axl used to be poor as shit, do drugs, drink and all.... now he's settled down, he's got money, he's not taking drugs... He might not be able to run around and have the same endurance or stamina as before but I bet he's a much healthier man. What he needs to work in is his voice. He desperately needs a voice coach. I actually see this on myself sometimes when the webcam on my computer accidently comes on and I'm filmed a bit from underneath. And I'm not even close to overweight.
