montrealrocks
In the section: who should shut his trap, I wanna include Gilby Clarke. Last week he mentioned that he would take part of a GnR reunion only if Slash is involved, and today. THIS:My linkAnyways. Somebody here is missing Gilby Clarke? And to top that? Who is this guy anyways?
iftheworld
Gilby won't be joining them IF it ever happened. Izzy will be taking rhythm guitar. Gilby was an unspectacular fillin for Izzy.
Guest NewGNRnOldGNR
Richard Fortus has more claim to a Rock Hall appearance than Gilby. Both gifted live guitarists playing the material of another rhythm (Stradlin and Huge).
Angelica
What did he say that wounded you, I must've skimmed over it? And as there's no reunion without Slash, the previous statement is more redundant than offensive (also adorably optimistic - in what alt universe is Gilby part of a reunion?). KBear
What exactly did he say that was so bad? Some of you are way too sensitive. So the guy believes Slash should be there. It's his prerogative. Many would agree with him. He even said that while the music doesn't sound like GN'R to him, the songs are great and he enjoys many of them.Lots of people have said much worse. Gilby hasn't talked that much over the years, and after all this time- if that's the worst he has to say, I don't know why it's so offensive. I'm sure he knows that even in a the hopelessly optimistic 'reunion' scenario, that he would not feature unless Izzy volunteered against.
Cosmo
They only people who'd rather have Gilby than Izzy on a possible reunion would be Gilby and his mom.
axlsalinger
Heh. I'm very pro-Axl and get as annoyed as anyone at the Slash fanboys on this board, but you've gotta have some serious cognitive dissonance to get offended by the notion that if there was a reunion of the original GNR members, it would have to include Slash. And for the record, Gilby rocks. rockerman
Wow what a way to get your panties in knot.Gilby was a scab player as well who lucked out and got a chance in a lifetime. He like ermm.... so many of the current people did his job like a pro and we will never know what he could have contributed outside of being a hired gun. Him being part of a reunion..dont see the need for it.. we have a nostalgia show now in progress and its doing good business. Funny how so many people here and from time to time even myself still think that what Axl is doing is filling in the time before he gets back to the real deal and thats a "proper" Guns and Roses with all the originals included. Like dads gonna divorce his sexy new current wife and remarry your mom for old time kicks and giggles... it happens- but not that often.
montrealrocks
I'm not sensitive...I'm just saying that this guy should shut his trap. That's all. I wonder what Axl think of his solo work? (Wich by the way sucks balls big time. If he wouldn't have joined guns N' Roses, he would have never released any solo material whatsoever. Millions of guitarist are doing the same as Gilby) But Axl never disses the work of other ex-band members. But ex band members, even tho they always say: I really don't wanna comment on this topic, are always finishing by commenting it anyways. That is what pisses me off! Apollo
Gilby was in the band. I appreciate his opinion.Do you wanna know Josh Freeze opinion too? He was in the band too! Of course.I would rather hear from people who actually know Axl and slash and company, and who worked with them.....over random fans. Who wouldn't?Fans give you their opinions, most of which are based on a small portion of the truth. People who were actually involved give you a way better insight on what actually happened.People act like these guys are bums and losers for some reason. It is crazy. Gilby is probably a great guy. But people bash him because he wasnt an original member or he didn't write with the band? Fans take this stuff way to seriously.

ohmygod
Reunion is not gonna happen at the hof, the former members can show up and play with different musicians or whatever.I wonder if the real gnr is gonna show up or will they just book a gig somewhere else. GnR Chris
Even Gilby's reunion comments were taken out of context.Someone specifically asked him if he'd do a reunion if it was offered. He said he would do it if Slash was involved, but also went on to say that people want Izzy and Steven and the classic lineup when speaking of reunions. He said nothing wrong."I've always said if it's really a real reunion where [guitarist] Slash is involved, then I would do it, but I probably feel the same that you guys feel," Gilby replied. "I think most people wanna see the original five [members] — with Izzy [stradlin, guitar] and Steven [Adler, drums] - and I agree; that was a great band. But if they want other people - myself and Matt [sorum, drums], then I would do it. But I would only do it if Slash was involved."

CivilWar07
Think Gilby was pretty cool and respect that he is an ex gunner etc. even if it was a quick stint. (Luv his 99 live album) However id have Richard Fortis in any GNR line up before anyone else

montrealrocks
I have nothing against Gilby personnally. I'm just saying thet ex member who comments are not partial because they were at some point kicked out! Or left! montrealrocks
Ok, you really think this is respectful? It's just, to me, when I think of GUNS N' ROSES, it doesn't sound like GUNS N' ROSES to me. But as I say, if this was an Axl Rose album, it'd be fantastic, because it's good music. It is! I can't say it's not good music. VEry respectful that is....Anyhow! I don't think it is! Cosmo
He really wasn't disrespectful but he shouldn't really have any hope of being in a possible reunion, y'know...
