new Tommy interview with local Dallas free magazine music blog

Nice headline "Tommy Stinson Talks Working With Axel Rose..." obvioulsy one on those free papers.

And Tommy is wrong here: "What do you think about all the criticism Axl got for starting Guns N' Roses over with the new line up?

Here's the way it went down. He didn't start over. The other guys just kind of vacated the band. They said, "Fuck it, I don't want to work." Axl just decided to go on. He called me and asked me to do it and got the other guys to do it as well. Axl just wanted to keep working. He didn't want to start completely over after everything the band had been through. I think it was a pretty ballsy move."

Slash and Duff wanted to "work". Axl wanted to sit around and tinker for years & years.

I also find it funny that the headline alludes to Tommy "talking new GnR album" and his big quote is "I'm not going to say a whole lot about that, but I tell you right now that I certainly hope we do another album."

I'm not ripping Tommy, just the headline writer etc.....

I think it's now safe to assume that the only way we'll hear the finished tracks (The General, Atlas, Soul Monster, etc.) is after the current lineup completely reworks them. God knows how long that's gonna take.

Too bad, since the current finished versions with Bucket and Robin will probably never be heard, other than possible leaks.

I think a whole bunch of leaks will surface as soon as the album is released.

It wouldn't entirely shock me if once the so called "hoarders" discover that their versions aren't going to be released at any point and will loose whatever value they see in them once the new, reworked, versions surface, that they blow their proverbial wads and leak whatever they have before the "new" album comes out.

Edit: Which is in no way a bad thing, since it would make sense to hear the songs performed by the artists who conceived them in the first place.

If anything the value will increase surely? Even if unjustified I think most would prefer a Buckethead effort to a Ron’s or a Finck’s to a Dj’s.

I’m not suggesting older versions are automatically better; but certainly that will be the general presumption. The desire for comparison will bolster the value of these perhaps defunct efforts.

I'm just going by the way things have gone down in the past. In 2006 & 2008, when rumors of an imminent release were at their height, we saw the most leaks from songs that were on the album. Wouldn't surprise me if Axl made an announcement about the next album coming within the next year or so and then - BAM - The General or Atlas Shrugged is leaked and there's a 100 page thread discussing it.

not the best choice of words, but the thing is he wasn't there. All he's got to go by is what Del or Axl or Beta's told him...

Sorry cupcake I'l believe Tommy (an actual member) over your propaganda

You come off seriously deranged. And this is coming from somones who loves this lineup and has tickets for a show.

"what forum member volcano62 does, or does not believe". I can't imagine any of the other 1000s of forum members losing any sleep over it

but no wonder the other day he was compared to Nathan Gale

I think a lot of hoarders regret their actions as a major reason why they’re not part of the game anymore (or as prominent).

I think with the comprehension their versions are unlikely to be the final cut they’ll refrain from leaks and play the “Buckethead’s version is better” when the album drops and Dj’s additions are evident throughout.

Isn't that funny. "Fans" that believe they know more than what actual band members do. Because some random fan in Idaho would know more than an actual band member would.

I agree, it sounds very unlikely we are going to get anything for a very long time. Very disappointing  !

Indeed. Don't get me wrong, I think it's great that they're out there touring. It's just that so many of us were hoping to hear new music sooner than later. :shrugs:

They all know that when it comes to GNR, there's lawyers involved and people like us who read it & discuss it, and then the websites turn it into a news item. Ashba's the only one who's brought up possible new music. The rest of them have recorded what's sitting in the vault and leaving it up to Axl whether or not it'll be used, so all they can really talk about is the tour. There's nothing for them to say about Axl - when he shows up, they go on stage. When they're done, he either hangs with them or heads out. The rest of it's a series of hotel rooms, flights, catching sleep and doing some sightseeing, and doing some partying on the off days.

The band's free to promote upcoming shows wherever they're going to be playing. They're giving tickets away here and there (and backstage passes I guess).

It just sounds like 2011 were a bunch of loose ideas that the players either used for themselves or holding off to throw into the pot later.

Were you there? i'd like to hear more about your truth.

Definitely not me. Ron improves all of Bucket's work live, so I would rather hear the better versions of the songs recorded by Ron in the studio.
