Facepalm.

We know.

They had Slash booked/done awhile ago.

They were never sure until they actually got Axl that they would get Axl.

They're kicking off the season with Axl. Hopefully big ratings (for a VH1 cable show).

Facepalm feeevvvvveeeerrrrrrrr

Now would be an acceptable time for us to still have the facepalm emoticon...

Not exactly...

Do you think the Slash Vs. Axl Rose beef is repairable?

I do. I saw Slash a couple days ago in Los Angeles, where I was giving an award for Ronnie James Dio's cancer foundation, and we talked a little bit. He knew that I'd just interviewed Axl, and he asked about Axl and how he was. I said that Axl mentioned him in the interview, and that it wasn't anything negative. Slash said, "Yeah, we've actually been pretty cool lately." Slash is a pretty easy-going guy, and he'll ride with the tide. But it's hard to get a read on it. But outside of Slash, Axl is cool with every other original member of Guns. Izzy [stradlin] comes out and plays with Axl and the band every once in a while. Duff just played with him. There are no issues with either of the two drummers. If there's a rub with the Rock Hall induction, it would only be about Slash. In talking to both Slash and Axl, though, they're both very committed to their careers right now. Axl is amped about this new GNR lineup, and I just heard Slash's next record, which is coming out next year. It's amazing. The media dwells on their relationship more than the guys themselves do.

I wasn't referring to the content of the interviews, more the fact that everyone might start hopping on the conspiracy bandwagon

Reasons there is a higher chance for a reunion lately:

- Ron is hurting and may be thinking of quitting

- Axl was talking about Slash in a seemingly fun and positive light with that story about them on tour in the old days which is different than every other hate filled comment about Slash in the past.

- The rock n roll hall of fame thing. Slash is down to go, Duff would too, Adler surely would, Matt would probably be down, Izzy is certainly questionable. The main difference lately is Axl didn't reject the idea in that metal show interview to me it seemed like he'd be interested in it and he recognizes the fans want it which is in contradiction to when he was last asked about it.

- Chinese Democracy is out and history now. Axl doesn't seem to want to follow through with his multiple albums same bat-time next year idea so the new band may never record and I just found out they haven't recorded since 2008 so it's possible Axl doesn't even want to or doesn't want to since the people he believed in for Chinese Democracy are gone (Buckethead, Robin Finck)

- Slash has been very cautious and respectful when talking about Axl for the last couple years showing he's over it.

That's quite a lot different than say 2003 or 2007. I'm probably missing stuff too. Any more guys?

also slash, duff and izzy are relatively if not completely sober which was always a issue for axl

Shouldn't the fact that Slash said to Eddie Trunk that him and Axl had been "pretty cool lately" be on the top of that list?

They haven't been "pretty cool lately" it's only in his mind.

And exactly how do you now this?

If I'm not mistaken no one has heard Slash say this. Eddie said that is what Slash said. I not doubting Eddie but we do not know what kind of context this was taken out of by Eddie. JMO

Exactly. All we have is what Eddie said. Until I hear it from Slash or Axl I don't buy it.

Trunk seems pretty trustworthy to me.

Especially since he wants to be respected and be friends with both of the guys. The context was pretty clear to me, Slash wondered how Axl was and when Eddie said he didn't say anything bad about Slash when he met him (which wasn't really true though, it turned out), Slash said "Yeah, we've actually been pretty cool lately". Could mean anything though.

And why would Eddie lie? what is in it for him? Don't see him as the type to make shit up

I'm not saying I think he has lied. I just think people are reading to much into a casual comment made by Eddie. Slash could have meant that he and Axl are not chopping each other up in the media lately. Or that they are not involved in any legal litigation with each other right now.

"Even if they reconcile they will never play music together. They are in totally different places when it comes to music. And for the record im not "scared" of anything. Axl has too much integrity to sell out and play with the former guitar player."

Volcano, you cannot get away with that one. Axl has sold out also. It's called promoting their career! And unless he was treated equally by Axl the "former guitar player" would not play with him. :)
