Georgy Zhukov
Suppose to be getting my copy sometime next week. Anyone listen to it yet? I love the single.
dalsh327
It's getting mixed (although positive) reviews because people expect him to do something different. Keith Richards is on some of the songs. Also got Marc Ribot and David Hildago again. He had said this was recorded pretty fast. It's been almost 10 years since Real Gone, and Orphans tided a lot of people over. I gave it a listen when they posted it on the official site and liked it, when I haul my ass to the store, I'll pick up a copy. I've seen Tom twice - once was at the Storytellers taping, and the other time was in Phoenix at the Glitter and Doom opening night. New video came out today. Then pick the songs you like off of them, and get the full length CDs. There's something like 23-25 total. I would get the theater stuff like Black Rider last, just because it's one of the tougher ones to listen to. I guess you'd have to add Primus' Tommy the Cat in there. He did a lot of TV appearances in the 70s, and made a lot of videos in the 80s and 90s, pretty much everything's You Tube, but def. check out the Letterman appearances. But if you get into him, keep in mind to have a couple of hundred dollars aside just for the show, and might have to book a flight to go see him. Ticket prices can get into the thousands once they get in the hands of ticket brokers, usually they've been around 50-80. For a theater show - worth it. No bad seats. dalsh327
I started with Rain Dogs and Orphans, figure those are great albums to start with.Orphans is good because it takes a lot of the songs he's doled out for other projects from over the years, plus stuff that wasn't released, but had done live or had given to others to sing, like Johnny Cash. I don't know if that would be one of the first ones I'd get, even though I've seen good deals for it. But the back catalog has its eras. Putting something like Shiver Me Timbers up against Earth Died Screaming, and it's like putting Think About You up against Shacklers Revenge. bt88
the new Tom record is solid. It's more efficient, it doesnt meander as much as records past. Somehow it feels like this guy keeps getting better. My favorite Tom records:Rain DogsAlice Real Gone
Georgy Zhukov
Just got the CD the other day, i think its brilliant. It really does sound like he's getting better with age. Imagine what he'll sound like at 70? What's with all these artists writing shorter songs? Real Gone was full of songs more than 5 minutes including a 10 minute magnum opus Sins of the Father. In order to anticipate the new album I listened to every single studio album from Closing Time to Orphans then Bad as Me. Thanks to that stupid ass fucking snow storm I was unable to listen to them all in time.

Some of the fans took her out to the pizza place Tom worked at and heard his sister got kind of pissed off about it but she sounded like she had a great time. I know he avoided playing San Diego for years, but I always felt it was just family time when he went.
