Does anybody else think that Axl should do something controversial in an effort to get kicked off his label? I remember reading in one of the Motley Crue books that Nikki Sixx acted like a total asshole in a purposeful effort to get kicked off the label and get all his publishing rights back. And it worked too! Surely somebody who goes by the self titled name of "King Dick" could find a way to do the same. Ice-T also did it in the 90's with Cop Killer. GNR doesn't even need a record label anymore, so getting kicked off this one would be a huge coup. It's time for Axl to launch an "Arab Spring" on Universal and free GNR. I won't be told anymore...

I totally agree. The label just wants a reunion. The problem becomes that a reunion has such dollar signs in the execs eyes, that they're willing to put up with "king dick". They'll never let him out.

Yep. Business people care about business

And the most pointless attempt at making a belittling post goes to.....

My point was that yes he should try to get out, but no I don't think it will work. Obviously I understand why that would be, and yes I understand that the record business is about money, not art.

If it hasn't happened in the last 25 years, it's not gonna happen now. That just goes to show that after all the bullshit, and even with the economy being in the shitter the label still holds on to Axl.

I think the "label problems" are simply Axl doesn't like the terms of a release and wont give in to doing it their way or for their price. This is why every step of the process is drawn out.

Yep, to sum it up perfectly I'd say that's it. Because we all that by everyone's account who has worked with this band/ or been in this band that the label had done EVERYTHING they could starting back in 99 up to 08 to get something out there. So they label is probably throwing stipulations at Axl such as "when we pay for studio time, you had better be in there recording tracks"...things like that. And as we all know, there is worktime, dinner time, lunch time...even hammertime...but none of those have shit on Axl time.

He has to do something that brings a lot of negative press to the label itself. It would have to be something that could potentially damage the corporate brand.
