Knife-Chase
So now it's 2012; two full years separating us from the past decade. I'm sure you got familiar with some records that you didn't know about during the decade that were from the decade and I'm sure some that you thought you really liked at the time you lost some love for by now. So we all probably have a better perspective on the decade now that it's done than we did during it. What are your favourites?1. Radiohead - In Rainbows2. James Bond
As far as new bands that came around/became prominent in that decade I'd say my favorite is The Killers. Those guys just keep getting better with each album. The release of long awaited albums by AC/DC, Guns N' Roses, and Metallica all in the same year within a month or two was pretty awesome in 2008.Contraband came out not long after I started getting into Guns N' Roses so it was exciting to see what this "new band with Slash" was all about.I didn't really discover much "new music" during that decade as I was really just starting to discover music in general at the beginning of it. Before I'd listen to pretty much anything just for some background noise, then finally I started discovering some rock bands with AC/DC being the first I really got into thanks to television. I caught a showing of "Live at Donington" and it blew me away. I picked up a guitar not long afterward so really, that decade of music is extremely important to me. It changed my life, and hell, it brought me to MyGNR.

Use Your Delusion 1
The Rising by Bruce Springsteen stands out along with Chinese Democracy, Back to Black, Parachutes & Rush of Blood to the Head, Hot Fuss, Contraband, Village Gorilla Head, Buckethead and Slim Shady in the early parts of the decade and Black Holes & Revelations, can't think of any more but there are some others I've no doubt missed

The 80s was mostly weak for me, save GNR of course.

Powerage5
I decided to go back and list notable albums from each year, as I noticed I actually left quite a few off of my original top 20 list. Obviously I wound up with a lot more than 20 this time around. This list represents what I was into at the time, or what I appreciate more now looking back on it. Some of these albums I've outgrown (I'm looking at you, 90's punk bands), but I still listed them as they were part of what I was into at the time.Album of the decade for me is Mayer Hawthorne's "A Strange Arrangement", no contest. I can't even begin to guess how many times I've listened to that album front to back; somewhere in the hundreds I'm sure.2000:AC/DC - Stiff Upper LipAlice Cooper - Brutal PlanetDio - MagicaGoldfinger - Stomping GroundIron Maiden - Brave New WorldThe Mighty Mighty Bosstones - Pay AttentionMotorhead - We Are MotorheadRage Against The Machine - RenegadesSlash's Snakepit - Ain't Life Grand2001:The Bouncing Souls - How I Spent My Summer VacationDead Kennedys - Mutiny On The BayStone Temple Pilots - Shangri-La Dee Da2002:Against Me! - Reinventing Axl RoseBad Religion - The Process Of BeliefBuckethead - Electric TearsJohnny Cash - American IV: The Man Comes AroundCoheed & Cambria - The Second Stage Turbine BladeDio - Killing The DragonDream Theater - Six Degrees Of Inner TurbulenceFlogging Molly - Drunken LullabiesIron Maiden - Rock In RioThe Pietasters - TurboReel Big Fish - Cheer Up!2003:Coheed & Cambria - In Keeping Secrets Of Silent Earth: 3Godsmack - FacelessIron Maiden - Dance Of DeathRiverboat Gamblers - Something To Crow AboutJoss Stone - The Soul SessionsTower Of Power - The Oakland Zone2004:Buckethead - Population OverrideThe Casualties - On The Front LineDio - Master Of The MoonCee Lo Green - Is The Soul MachineMotorhead - InfernoReverend Horton Heat - RevivalVelvet Revolver - Contraband2005:Buckethead - Enter The ChickenCoheed & Cambria - Good Apollo, I'm Burning Star IV, Volume I: From Fear Through The Eyes Of MadnessAlice Cooper - Dirty DiamondsBruce Dickinson - Tyranny Of SoulsDream Theater - OctavariumTony Iommi - FusedQueen + Paul Rodgers - Return Of The ChampionsRolling Stones - A Bigger Bang2006:Godsmack - IVIron Maiden - A Matter Of Life And DeathPearl Jam - Pearl Jam2007:Bad Brains - Build A NationBuckethead - Acoustic ShardsDream Theater - Systematic ChaosRush - Snakes & ArrowsSixx:AM - The Heroin Diaries SoundtrackVelvet Revolver - Libertad2008:AC/DC - Black IceAlice Cooper - Along Came A SpiderGuns N' Roses - Chinese DemocracyMotley Crue - Saints Of Los AngelesMotorhead - MotorizerTestament - The Formation Of DamnationScott Weiland - Happy In Galoshes2009:4 Point 0 - The College TryChickenfoot - ChickenfootMayer Hawthorne - A Strange ArrangementHeaven & Hell - The Devil You KnowIron Maiden - Flight 666The Mighty Mighty Bosstones - Pin Points & Gin JointsMumford & Sons - Sigh No MoreReverend Horton Heat - Laughin' & Cryin' With The Reverent Horton HeatSlayer - World Painted BloodTower Of Power - The Great American Soulbook

Great album, though, and I loved the promo videos, especially as I'm a big fan of Psycho.
