Happy New Year!

Tuesday, January 10, 2011 Hudson, NY

Happy New Year my Peeps!

I have barely been home a week and it’s already starting to take shape!!!! It’s all good stuff mind you, but I just wasn’t prepared to have it all start so soon. Anyway, there will be much to talk about in the coming days, weeks, and months.

I must say that the last GNR tour was a lot of fun. The camaraderie was the best it’s been in all my 14 years and I think we all went home inspired by the possibilities. I want to say thank you to all of you who came out to the shows, especially those who came to more than one. It means a lot to us.

Much love and success to all of you in 2012. Stay tuned for more.

That's cool news that they're able to talk more about it. I hope Axl doesn't get hung up on Activision and finding a record company.

It's also going to be interesting, considering they're all spread nationwide on how they might record this one, but could see the band doing the sessions out of NY, a place Axl seems to like a lot, and a few of the band members are home based, as well as working on it out in LA and in his home studio.

Things need to hurry along with this record label deal coz soon all that momentum is gon go to waste!

you dont need a fucking record label deal to record music, man.

simple fact.

also, what do you think a record label might be more interested in, a band that has an idea to go record some stuff if they get money yada yada, or a band that comes to the office with a finished mixdown and says:"Hey, listen, we are guns 'n roses and we got this new album here. why don't you have a listen to what it sounds like and call us back if you want to release it."

it really does boil down to that.

Of course you don't. That's stating the obvious. From what he said on TMS he's trying to fig out what to do with the label so Axl obv still wants a big record label behind him. More promo benefits perhaps. Who knows.

They need to build on this momentum. I have a feeling the best has yet to come. i'm holding DJ to his word that they want to make the best GNR album ever. Bold words because Chinese will be hard to top.

I just think that now that the name and legacy or whatever you want to call it behind Chinese Democracy is out of the way, things can only go up for the next album. Musically it might be hard to top as you say, but I have faith.

I don't care if we don't get say another There Was A Time, I just want some kick ass music.

That's fine, but after I got so many songs I love like There Was A Time, Catcher, Better and Prostitute (to name only a few)

I'm kinda greedy I guess. I want an album of that same quality or even better, cause I think cd2 is probaby just that, and this line up could pull it off. Not just kick ass music, but a great fucking rock album.

Come on, Axl has Fortus, Bumble, Tommy and probably Paul and Dj seems to write ideas Axl likes. Doesn't seem easy to get him to like demos. Just seems like they have all they need to make that shit happen.

agree with you on the bold words, but for me the stuff to beat is the melodic epochs of UYI.

So the only way for GnR to be successful is if they out-do what might be the best hard rock album of all time? Pretty unfair expectations to put on ANY band.

And great to hear a band member talk about what great chemistry there is between the band, since the haters like to harp on this band not having the same chemistry as the old band.

I hope they don't try and out-do Appetite. But instead try and make an album that is pleasing to the ears in 2012. Music isn't a competition.

You do if you want to put it out (considering that they're already tied to a label) and if you want your studio time paid for.

What I find frustrating, is how easy it is to record a record. Anyone with a computer, condenser mic, and a couple hundred bucks worth of software can make a record in there bedroom. You can bet all members of GNR have their own form of recording pro quality digital music. Yet it all comes down to money. I truly believe that money is why it is like pulling teeth to get any new music.

Axl is used to huge budgets for recording, promotion, touring, after parties etc.

I think he refuses to accept the downsizing of budgets in the industry due to low record sales, the Internet, and a bad economic climate. That story about him refusing to downsize the show so they wouldn't need so many big rigs backs this up. So when the label says you have x amount for promotion for CD2 he might think it's an insult and refuse or delays it forever with hopes they will cave.

Im not claiming this as fact, but it makes sense to me.

I just wish Axl and the label would get the fuck on the same page!

That's all.

Doesn't Bumble have his own studio? I'm not 100% sure, but I could swear he does.

If anything, if Axl wants all the studio time he needs, he should consider building his own studio, like what the Foo Fighters did. Build a studio, let other bands use it to help pay it off, and then the band can have as much time as they want without worrying about anyone having to pay for it by the hour.

Axl will never top AfD. That is the definitive Gn"R record and always will be because it features the definitive lineup.

Second to that lineup, I really enjoys the Bucket-Finck combo because it was so out there. The more I watch videos from the early 2000s the cooler I realize that whole weird setup was.

That said, the current lineup is nice because of its cohesiveness and they cover all the songs very well live. It was a great rock show when I saw them.

And yet, I don't believe a new record will come of this. And also, I don't have faith in Bumble and Ashba to deliver something on par with anything that came out of the CD sessions.

+2 I prefer Appetite over Chinese but Chinese is the album I listen to every day....

I think he does have his own studio. Burning through the labels money was just for fun.
