I figured the Maiden fans on here would be pleased to see this if they haven't yet:

"EMI are proud to announce the release of a new live IRON MAIDEN Blu-Ray, 2DVD Set and Double Soundtrack Album on Monday March 26th (March 27th Canada and USA (via UMe)).

"EN VIVO!" was filmed on 10th April 2011 in front of over 50,000 ecstatic fans at the Estadio Nacional, Santiago during the Round The World In 66 Days leg of The Final Frontier World Tour, and captures a magnificent performance by the band, ardently embraced by the legendary Latino passion and energy of their Chilean fans. With spectacular stage backdrops, dynamic musicianship and a literally jaw-dropping appearance by Eddie, this live show encapsulates to perfection the heart and soul of Iron Maiden 2011.

Bass player and founder member Steve Harris comments "For The Final Frontier Tour it was really important to me that we filmed in South America as we're always so overwhelmed by the fans' reaction when we go to that part of the world and I wanted to reflect that in the filming. After much consideration we chose the Santiago show as we felt it was one of our best performances of the entire Tour and to play at the prestigious Estadio Nacional was a landmark moment for us. For reasons known to our fans, it took a long time before we got to play our first show in Chile, and once we did get to play a show, the response was so phenomenal we just had to keep coming back and it's got better and better each time!

This show also features the gigantic new Eddie. He wasn't due to make his appearance until our European leg of the tour later in 2011, but we managed to transport him across the sea in a special huge container just in time for the latter end of the South American dates so it was great we were able to immortalize him for the DVD as he really has to be seen to be believed!"

The concert was filmed digitally using 22 HD cameras and an octocam (a flying camera which captures aerial crowd scenes), recorded in both stereo and 5.1 audio and mixed by Maiden's longstanding producer Kevin "Caveman" Shirley, all of which serves to accentuate the incredible atmosphere of this compelling performance. Extensive use is made of split screens so fans can follow the individual members closer and the set list moves seamlessly between songs from Maiden's most recent studio album, 2010's The Final Frontier through to classic fan favourites via the band's vast and varied catalogue. (full set listing below).

DVD Disc Two is a Bonus Disc containing an 88-minute documentary, BEHIND THE BEAST. This is also an entirely in-house production by Maiden's own Krew, led by Andy Matthews, and is intended as an interesting and revealing high quality "home movie" for their fans of how to put on an Iron Maiden tour and what goes on behind the scenes at a show. It describes the extraordinary story of one of the most acclaimed and ambitious touring shows in the world. It illustrates the day to day life and complex tasks of the Maiden Killer Krew and the other characters behind the scenes. The expertise and experience, the problem-solving and successes, the sheer scale and immense difficulties of the undertaking comes to life through the day to day coverage of the tour and the background work of the crews in sound, lighting, carpentry, production and set design. As well as interviews with the Iron Maiden crew, it interweaves anecdotes from the band and their fans, and includes footage of the live show in this comprehensive guide to the intricacies of staging massive, live Stadium shows around the World out of the belly of a Boeing 757. The bonus disc also contains an extended version of the promo video "Satellite 15...The Final Frontier", a video about the making of "Satellite 15...The Final Frontier" plus the opening video sequence to The Final Frontier World Tour.

In addition to the Blu-Ray, the 2DVD will initially be available as a Limited Edition double DVD in Collectors Steel book case and Double Vinyl Picture Disc. As well as a traditional 2CD Soundtrack album, EN VIVO! will also be available as a Digital Download, CD soundtrack album and Digital Download Video.

Maiden's "Final Frontier World Tour 2010-11" saw the band circumnavigating the planet for the third time in their customized Boeing 757, Ed Force One, piloted by lead singer Bruce Dickinson, and playing 98 shows in 36 countries to over 2 million fans.

For anyone who saw a show in 2011, you know how incredible this tour was. For anyone who didn't this is your chance to see what you missed! The shows in April were, as far as I'm concerned, the best musically of the entire tour.

Nice set list! I loved how they did Flight 666 but it'll be nice to watch a complete concert. I'll be picking this up for sure.

I never got around to getting the other live DVDs, just because anytime I see Death on the Road or Rio they're usually like $40-50 for whatever reason. Need to check online for those.

Death On The Road is never too cheap because it got recalled due to a problem with one of the concert discs, and never got a proper re-release. It's not a particularly good one to be honest though, it's my least favorite besides Raising Hell (Which is just utter garbage). Early Days and Live After Death are essential if you don't have those though ;)

Fuck me, I don't have Blu-Ray.

Looks like I'll finally be forced into buying a Blu-Ray player. How much do those things go for?

Not much, if you look around you can find one probaly for $70-80. Once you go blu, you dont go back!

Looks like I won't be eating for a while. That's not really as high as I expected, though. I'll start saving. I mean, a live version of The Talisman, Coming Home, and When the Wild Wind Blows is too tempting.

This sounds like it'll be my first Maiden BluRay

It'll be awesome to have live versions of Talisman and Wind Blows and the rest of the Frontier tracks.

The thing for me that makes Death On The Road worth having is Dance, Paschendale and Lord Of The Flies.

You don't have Flight 666 on Blu Ray? Definitely worth picking up, the concert footage looks spectacular in HD!

As for DOTR...I agree that Dance Of Death and Paschendale were highlights (Though I think DOD sounded a lot better in '10/11 than '03 despite being less theatrical), though I'm not too keen on Bruce singing LOTF. Journeyman is my favorite on DOTR.

Those are the same tracks I listen to on DOTR also. They're so good on that live album, that you don't even need to listen to the rest.

Forgot about Journeyman, the DOTR version completely obliterates the album version for me.

So is Death On The Road worth picking up?

sampler (before SOPA is passed and we can't do these kind of things anymore.) :

I enjoyed it more than the previous release Rock In Rio because of the setting, a darkly lit arena instead of an uber-bright almost-daylight outdoor field, to me it looks much more like a Maiden gig than Rio did.

The extra cheesyness is worth it too, with the costume and set changes for DOD and Paschendale, the bonus documentary was quite good, I hope the doc on the new one is at least that in depth...

If you're a completist when it comes to Maiden or if you can find it for less than $30, sure. It's got the same rapid-paced editing of Rock In Rio, and I know a lot of people don't care for that. The setlist for the Dance Of Death tour was pretty boring IMO...6 songs from the album (Most of which are great live in all fairness), a Blaze song, and some classics. The show has it's moments in terms of theatrics (Particularly Paschendale), but it's overall a lackluster show in that department. One of the concert discs (Can't remember if it's the stereo version or the 5.1 version off-hand) has a problem where it boots back to the chapter menu between songs after the first 5 or 6. The documentary on disc 3 is the highlight of the set to me, very insightful about what goes on in the studio and planning a subsequent tour...very different subject matter than the "History Of" series or Flight 666.

Setlist for Death On The Raod:

Widest Dreams

Wrathchild

Can I Play With Madness

The Trooper

Dance Of Death

Rainmaker

Brave New World

Paschendale

Lord Of The Flies

No More Lies

Hallowed Be Thy Name

Fear Of The Dark

Iron Maiden

---encore---

Journeyman

Number Of The Beast

Run To The Hills

All things considered, it's my least favorite live album/video to date besides Raising Hell (Which I'd prefer to forget was released...). The classics are not necessarily the strongest performances they've released, but they're not bad. The Dance Of Death tracks are really the best thing about DOTR; Dance Of Death and Paschendale are really theatrical live, Journeyman magical bing played acoustic (The only time to date Maiden has played an acoustic track live, let alone on record), and the other 3 all hold their own as well. This give you an idea of what to expect:

Here's a question to anyone who has/has seen all the live videos; how do you rank them best to worst? I know this is a subject of some serious debate, so I'm curious how everyone feels on here. My list:

1. Flight 666

2. Live After Death

3. Maiden England

4. The Early Days

5. Rock In Rio

6. Live At Donington

7. Death On The Road

8. Raising Hell

That's a subject of some debate on the Iron Maiden Fan Club. A lot of people think it's just going to be a compilation of IMTV (A video blog for FC members) clips from throughout 2011. I hope they don't take the easy way out and do that...but at the same time I won't be complaining if they do as I had a small interview segment in one of the episodes :tongue2:

Wow, great price! Even when it was new, I paid over $40 I think!

Did Maiden England ever get a dvd release?

Not yet; it was originally supposed to be released in 2008 to tie in with the Somewhere Back In Time tour, but not only did it never get released, but they also went back and removed any mentions of it in older press releases for the tour/Live After Death DVD :shrugs:

Did Maiden England ever get a dvd release?

I'm guessing that will be part 3 of the History of Iron Maiden series.

Oh and this was on youtube this morning:

Looks decent enough. I hope they don't use split-screen to that extent on the final product. I also think Dance Of Death sounds a bit rough which has me worried about how The Talisman will sound...
