No back n forth again? No Beggars & Hangers-On?

Those 2 are clearly the two main missed opportunities.

From the CD side, This I love it's clearly by far my pic...Slash would have taken that song to a whole another level. I like finck solo but sometimes i feel he 'abused' with the higher pitch notes.

Just my 2 cents. Nice topic BTW

Buckethead makes TWAT his bitch...whatever else anyone might have to say about that song, Bucket absolutely brings that song to it's knees, note perfect.

Slash would have sounded amazing on There Was A Time I reckon, but Buckethead is also jaw-dropping good so it's hard to wish for Slash when you've already got perfection. This I love would have benefited most from having Slash on it. Street of Dreams too. I could easily imagine Slash on most Chinese Democracy songs, but many o them are already very good guitar-wise.

Fall to Pieces, Nothing To Say and Starlight could work very well with Axl's vocals, but I love them all as they are too, so I don't know ...

I think some Slash and Axl would turn some Izzy solo tunes into perfect GnR rockers like Drove, Hell Song, Hammerhead, Tijuana, Old Tune, etc...

I agree, and I felt Axl would have made Snakepit and Velvet Revolver songs a lot better, Slash couldn't touch Buckethead though.

In my opinion Fall To Pieces could have benefited from Axl's voice and songwriting.

The riff was great, the solo was also very cool, but the lyrics, stracture of the song, and the production were predictable and boring for me. It could have been so much more. (I still like it though)

Hmmm... this is a hard one. I think its more difficult to decided which VR songs would've benefited from Axl's input than the other way around simply because if Axl had been involved in any of them the lyrics and vocal style would have been extremely different. But here is my stab at it...

I think the most obvious choice would be Fall to Pieces. Its a beautiful song and I fell in love with its melody the first time I heard it but I've long since felt that even though I like Scotts vocals on it (a lot) the lyrics are very week. It would have been interesting to hear Axl's take on it, even though it would likely end-up being a completely different song.

As for CD songs that would've benefited with Slash's input, I'd vote This I Love and Catcher in the Rye. They are both my favorite songs from CD (and definitely part of my personal top 20 GnR songs) but every time I listen to them, especially the guitar parts, certain notes and moments within those songs reminds me of Slash. Its like even though he didn't work on them he's had some influence on them. Perhaps its the guitar tone or something about the style/melody of the songs or just certain notes that are played but I'd really like to hear Slash's take on it.

Other CD songs though, like Chinese Democracy, TWAT, Better and Madagascar, would not suit Slash's style at all I think. They just seem completely opposite in terms of music style/genre as opposed to what Slash usually does.

Oh, it just occurred to me; Streets of Dreams would have been really fascinating if it had had Izzy and Slash's influence...

Good topic OP. :)

Fall To Pieces / Beggars & Hangers On / Back and Forth Again / Back To The Moment

This I Love (definitely - I believe Axl and Slash have jammed this song at some point 'cause I remember Axl playing TIL in one of his piano solos back in 1992).

TWAT couldn't be better. Buckethead is the best guitarist since Slash left.

I love FTP too, but you're right, the lyrics are crappy.

"I keep a journal, of memories..."

I mean, what kind of pussy 13 year old girl lyric is that??? Axl would never write shit like that.
