Are These Latest Tours Really Part of the "Chinese Democracy Tour"?

Lately, I have yet to see any sort of promotion or anything from the band that states the last tour or any of the upcoming shows are part of the "Chinese Democracy Tour." The last tour was named "North American Tour 2011" and NONE of the t-shirts or commercials had any mention of Chinese Democracy. The ads said things like "Over two hours of their greatest hits!" which leads me to believe that that's what they are touring in support of... their greatest hits.

One of the only things I believe supports the argument that this is stil the Chinese Democracy Tour is the fact that they open the shows with the title track. Oh, and the stage design.

Not putting the band down or anything, just pointing something out. Was this past tour really still part of the Chinese Democracy Tour?

Here's to hoping for new music!

I dunno how u can say it was called the north american tour, when everything had a chinese theme to it. From some of the shirts, to the stage setup. And some dates were posted a few threads up with the title "guns n roses chinese democracy tour" seriously? Touring the same album/theme for 10+ years. I don't care if they play new music or not, but id like to see a slightly different setup/setlist. Esp if they stream sum dates. Ill watch anything they stream, but id love to see a few different songs this time around. Whether it b new songs or new old songs. Something new this time around... please ...

Uhm...

Whether they call it the Chinese Democracy tour or not is not really important.

If the setlist is the same ( save for the addition of an UYI song or two ) : it's the same tour, and it's been the same tour for a while now.

The only way it's not the same tour is for them to play some unheard material. :shrugs:

So, by that logic, next summer's Metallica tour when they play the entire Black Album won't be a new tour because all the material has been heard? Or, last summer, when I saw Aerosmith, even though they didn't play any new songs, it wasn't a new tour, despite it being their first NA tour in several years?

Yeah, that doesn't make sense.

They call those a "front to back", "cover to cover", "anniversary tour" when they do the entire album. Something where they're doing unheard music, they might call them rehearsal or workup tours, or make a set of unheard music - Pink Floyd did it for DSOTM, Wish You Were Here, and Animals, and I think Radiohead's thrown a bunch of unheard stuff in their live set if they're still working on the songs.

GNR aren't really touring to support the album anymore, the songs should be familiar to most of the people going to the shows.
