GNFR2003
--Do you young ones realize, that about 90% of the outfits out there cannot reproduce their music live, without an incredible amount of pre-recorded parts, full-on Auto-tune, and don't even really play live half of the time--I qualify this statement, by saying there are many great young hard rock and alt. bands that play, and do it right. But the large portion of popular music in this country, and the charts, are dominated by folks performing Muzak cooked up by a hot producer, and cannot play and instrument, really sing, or whatever and are just a product of a label, trying to cash in until the next model comes down the assembly line. GNR are what they are--good nights or bad, they play, and there ain't no band aids, and cover-ups. Some nights it works, some nights it doesn't, but it's always real!>--Read the Rolling Stone capsule, or the Times capsule, or Billboards, or whomever's about GN'R--the first thing they always note is that GN'R exploded during a time of music dominated by silly pop, and horrendous Muzak.--Why GN'R exploded, is because they were "REAL"--you get what you get. If a guitar is out of tune, so damn be it. If Axl blows his voice, so be it--they play, and they bring the energy, and more than anything they bring a full on street attitude, and play as hard as they can, and Axl sings until blood is likely pouring out of his vocal chords.--One word today, and yesterday, that describes--and is the essence and beauty of GN'R live---DETERMINATION! A will to continue, when all the odds are stacked against you, your back against the wall--DETERMINATION. They don't know what is going to happen next, and neither do we, so why not be urgent, determined, and just flat out give it everything you've got.--GN'R typically can go from horrid to brilliant in a matter of seconds in a song, but they are always, balls to wall, bringing the heat. That is Axl--he used to have some t-shirt that spoke to his determination....I can't recall what it said, but basically he is going to give it everything he has, until he falls over dead. The guy is a beast, and his live performance is a battle--the cards might be stacked against him, but you know what, he ain't giving up...never!--Last night's show was great--GN'R rock the living hell out of a crowd in Chicago, and a bunch of EMO douchenozzles, beating off to porn in their parents basement want to complain about a guy who refuses to use autotune and in the spirit of Iggy Pop, just keeps on bleeding...keeps on doing what he's doing...It's only Rock n' Roll, and I fuckin Like it!!--Go back to the Katy Perry, or whatever Muzak of the week you are into--GN'R will keep on keeping on, and blow the living shit out of crowds one way or another--it will never be perfect, but they will go down trying, and won't leave an ounce of energy on the stage! James Bond
This post reminded me of one of those horrendous 'I'm 14 and live for megadeth and slayer. Fuck Bieber' youtube comments.This. Vast generalizations that assume that a certain age bracket doesn't know anything or any better ultimately just weakens the point trying to be made because there isn't a sound argument. To be fair I stopped reading after point one.

RNRS
I'm sure you could do much better. Those that can perform do,the rest complain and criticise.Saying stuff like that makes no sense, because it'd mean that no one is allowed to voice critisism if he can't do it himself. You're pretty much telling me I can't think a Lamborghini Diablo is ugly because I can't design one myself. Trying to make a point by saying "90% of the other artists need autotune!!!" while you're defending an artist who pretty much autotuned himself through an entire record is pointless, and therefore my reply of saying "Neither can Axl" makes perfect sense. GNFR2003
I think many of you took my first point out of context, and I have updated it. Say what you want, but if you look at the Billboard charts, most artists do not play instruments, do not write their own songs, do not perform with live instruments live, use autotune, and are a product of a label, and a hip producer who is more responsible for the "sound" than the band or artist themself.
