MCA died

30 year legacy he's left behind, and the Beasties' evolution was pretty fucking remarkable, and did their own thing, played by their own rules, put the music they felt like putting out, when they felt it was ready. Nothing but respect for them.

Not bad for a kid that started off playing hardcore punk.

I'm heartsick about this, I thought he'd beaten it :(

This is very sad. I've always loved the Beastie Boys since I bought License To Ill on cassette. No Sleep Till Brooklyn brings back a lot of good memories...

RIP

RIP Adam...but the Beasties are nothing but a singles band. 2 or 3 great tracks on each album and the rest in shit.

My RIP to Adam is real, as I'm always sad about death, but this idea that the Beasties where great is wrong....

Debate about the music's for another thread, another time, they could've been a novelty act like Vanilla Ice if they didn't take their chances with Paul's Boutique. Not a lot of people liked it when it came out, it's become a favorite to a lot of people over time. I'm sure Axl would love Chinese Democracy to have that kind of following.

So many great songs from these guys. Sad to hear, one of my first ever favoritebands. I remember as a kid staying up late with my walkman under the covers listening to "The top five at 10" on a 97.5 WPST, for something like four straight months 4 of the 5 songs were Beasties and Bon Jovi. Miss those days.

RIP MCA.

Don't want to turn this into one of those threads, but I grew up on these guys and couldn't disagree more. They made it ok for a white guy to b into hip hop.
