Slightly less disappointed than when I button my shirt and realize as I finish up that the buttons aren't aligned and that I have to start all over.

Wow... that disappointed?? Really??

Well I hope for your sake that they shake up the setlist a bit then, otherwise you're gonna be a mess.

Listen I'm gonna be happy if he does the exact same set - as long as he looks excited and sounds incredible. Sometimes you have a Rio '11, sometimes he just goes through the motions, and then when he has a fire on his ass like the gig after Rio, and the gigs coming into the US, and the LA gigs, and when Duff or Izzy gets on stage, he sounds amazing. I think a good challenge is often exactly what Axl needs.

But I'd like to hear new things. The fact is that internet has changed what a live show means because not only are you playing to the people there but inevitably lots of other people. Arguably more people! So, that's just a fact of how the dynamic has changed. And that change is here to stay.

Riad with the moody sitar-y guitar during "Oh, My Salvation..." which you can barely hear even with headphones

Are you talking about the lead guitar following Axl's vocals?

I dont know who's doing it, but it's not the distorted hard loud chords; it's the soulful bending sound that starts at 'oh my salvation' and kinda comes in and out around 'caught in the lies'. Hard to pull of all the CD nuances in a stadium, was my point. btw who is it? Ron?

Yeah, that's what I meant. It's courtesy of Mr. Robin Finck and one of my favorite leads in the album.

Yea that's awesome. Thanks for that. I hate on Robin a lot but there are some gems on there like the Riad part and the TIL solo. I liked the duet with BH at Rio '01. But I assume the first solo on IRS is him too, right? Yikes; I wasnt a fan of that one.

Here are a few of mine:

- new solo spots for each band member

no chance

- not all solo spots have to be played each night (even if that makes the concert shorter so be it)

no chance

- not more than 1 hour between the opening band and GNR. I'm fine with the show starting at midnight but it is really the wait in between that kills people

no chance

- at least one new unreleased song (more than 1 will be a bonus)

I think maybe we 'll get a classicGNR "new song". Less chance to they pulled out something new.

- some more Illusions (Yesterdays, DTJ, RNDTH)

see the previous. I have a feeeling that we can hear Yesterdays or Pretty Tied Up on this tour

- removal of some the classics such as RQ, KOHD, SCOM, ISE, NR (not likely gonna happen but do they really need to be played every night)

no chance

- I'm sick of PC (entirely) and would like another song to close the show. However, can PC fit in anywhere else? Perhaps the last song of the regular set but then many peeps might take of thinking that the show is over

no chance

That would be great because song order is a little different, plus OTGM is a bonus. Sucks that there's no CW or DC and also the encore is wayyyyy to chill.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the same set but I'd wonder when Axl plans to make the next step with Guns, he's 50 and got a great and stable line up, can't be that difficult to throw some music together from the vault or from scratch. It'd just become routine to do nothing new, immense performances are a certain but there's too much talent to repeat the last three years, Democracy era should be expanded now (imo RiR was a big missed opportunity).

As others have pointed out, i hope Axl changes his look. I'm kinda tired of seeing him just with the closed black leather jacket, glasses and hat. He wears it all the time now. And i hate his outfit for Jungle.

It's so much cooler when he wears just a bandana with a tshirt, or the suit jacket, or the long red coat, or that white sleeveless shirt he wore in 09 & 10. That makes him seem so much thinner, too. If he is going to wear the leather jacket, i hope he at least has a shirt and scarves with it, like Osaka 09

I'd ditch the hat completely though.

Edit: For example look at him in my sig below, looks so much better than the picture at the top of this forum

I think this tour we will see the same setlist as last time with some more of the back catalogue exploited. Bad obsession is my top tip for an appearence. would sound good vocally for axl and dizzy has been playing that tune in his setlist for a bit.

others from illusions, dead horse? Yesterdays? maybe.

no ranting

no late shows

no moaning about how much pain your in (you know who you are)

no attempts at attempting to contiune after the plugs been pulled.

no yellow rain coats

no blaming the sound guy

no bloated solo slots plugging future solo records

no banning of Slash shirts or people wearing Slash shirts

less cover tunes, more new 'original' material

..that should just about cover it

This has been the longest "Active" variation of Guns to date right?

Not sure what you mean. If you mean touring:

Classic lineup was together from 1985-1990 (5 years)

Illusions lineup with Matt and Izzy was just 1991 (1 year)

Illusions lineup with Matt and Gilby lasted from 1991-1993 (2 years)

Chinese Democracy lineup with Paul Tobias was just 2001 (1 year)

Chinese Democracy lineup with Richard Fortus was just 2002 (1 year)

Chinese Demoracy lineup with Bumblefoot, Brain and Robin was just 2006 (1 year)

Chinese Demoracy lineup with Bumblefoot, Frank and Robin was just 2007 (1 year)

Current lineup with DJ Ashba has been going since 2009 (2+ years)

I think he means the amount of touring. They've done so many gigs since 2009. And are about to do a lotttttt more.

Sorry I should have clarified. I did mean amount of touring. Anyone know how many shows each line-up have done? I'm sure there are a good bunch around here with archive info that could confirm this.

What I think will happen:

Axl's voice is weak for the first few shows but it gets back in form the 4th or 5th show.

They don't play any new material.

They play Oh My God.

A old Illusion song returns to the set-list.

The set-list is very similar to the least tour.

What I want to happen:

Axl's voice is in 2010 form.

They debut a new song, or two.

They mix up the set-list.

Song's like TWAT, Catcher, IRS, If The World, and Scraped return.

Sadly, I suspect the setlist will be more or less identical to the recent US tours. Every leg people get their hopes up that things will significantly change and they never do.

Will be interesting to compare the setlist from the last European show in 2010, to the one that takes place tonight. Estranged, Civil War and the choice of covers aside, I don't see any real differences occurring. Hopefully I'll be proved wrong!
